True. But if you're still listening to FM radio or watching the weekly SNL music guest to see what's going on these days, those were lost causes a long time ago.

There are alot of bands these days putting out good music.

Ghost
Alice in Chains
A Perfect Circle
Portugal the Man
Queens of the Stone Age
Myles Kennedy

ETC. I mean it's fine to criticize stuff, but there is legitimately good music coming out these days

I'll add Crobot, Rival Sons, Tremonti, Alter Bridge.

Every older generation thinks this about current music. People relate with and bond to music most while they are "coming of age", first kiss, first lay, being for the most part carefree as a kid (for most people). That's why music from when we were kids stays strong with us.

That doesn't mean today's music isn't garbage, because it is.

It almost seems like we have had this thread before.

Personally, I think there is a plethora of great music being made today, you just have to do a little searching. But music is very subjective, so I don’t really need to argue the point with anyone.

Fu Manchu
Orange Goblin
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Band Of Skulls
Jungle
The Atomic Bitchwas
Monster Magnet
Tons of interesting indie bans on stations like KLSU

And many, many other acts are still putting out great new music.

Corporate radio has been awful for decades. Why would anyone be looking to it for good new music in the first place?

KLSU started as WPRG when I was at LSU then it later changed its name....always has been been a leader in the music scene in baton rouge...also the new independent station 96.9 is very good also along with wbrh 90.3
But average FM and TV music stations are terrible

Risk averse music studios and a consolidated music distribution/entertainment/communications industry.

There is and always has been. Problem is, it's harder to find and the mainstream is way worse. Hell, even what passes as college music now it terrible for the most part. XMU blows most of the time.

Remember when WPRG was a progressive jazz station? I was a dj at the time and rebelled hard playing as much Gang Of Four and that incredible jazz band The Ramones as I could get away with.

WHYR is a really good station. Try KEXP 90.3 out of Seattle for new Indy music. Easily available on the inter webs.

there is incredible music coming out every day. You sound like you're too lazy to find it, and too pretentious to hear it
