I get that they’re not the best and overrated

They are the great American rock band of the 60s. They were the best thing to come out of LA. Impossible to say they're overrated. Every single instrumentalist was among the very best and unique, and nobody wrote or had the presence of Morrison.

GTFO with that b.s.

Anyone who hates the Small Faces can't be taken seriously, btw.

I've never gotten the sense "the internet" hates The Doors. I know several music fans that got into The Doors in high school and college, but moved on from them. They don't hate them, but don't really listen to them anymore. I would count myself in that group.

Any?

You must have a very narrow taste in music.

It goes beyond taste that that point. There has to so much of a dislike for something about the band or one of it's members that it clouds the mind when it comes to the music.

Musical cognitive dissonance, in a way.

Pitiful.

This is all that matters to Crosby, Still, Nash, and (sometimes) Young. They're all too old and too rich to still be such utter malcontents.

i don't think so.
outside of rap/hip hop, I can find something I like in almost any genre.

I just don't like their music. Never been a Joplin fan either. Different strokes, i guess.

Let's discuss CSN's gay harmonizing vocals that sound like a barbershop quartet.

I like about 3 songs ever by them.

I had a dude argue me down saying Morrison was a greater songwriter than Lennon/McCartney and Brian Wilson combined.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with that assertion.

Okey dokey, breathe in, breathe out, I will not fly off in a berserker rage, I will not fly off in a beserker rage.

I don't have a problem with The Doors, I have every one of their studio albums plus a live album in Pittsburgh, Pa. However they were very up and down on practically every album. Let's take their first album since that is usually the one people consider to be their best. Side one really good-Break on Through, Soul Kitchen, Crystal Ship, Alabama Song/Whiskey Bar whatever the hell you want to call it, and Light My Fire. Then side two starts off with Back Door Man and finishes up with The End. Quick, name any of the three songs between those two songs. Nobody can because nobody listens to them. Practically every album of theirs has two or three songs no one knows.

And as far as being better than Lennon, McCartney, and Brian Wilson combined goes, Jim Morrison wasn't even the best singer/songwriter with the last name of Morrison. For that matter he wasn't even the best drunk singer/songwriter with the last name of Morrison.
