Keith Whitley gets a 30 second shoutout...
No David Alan Coe?
No Clint Black?
What gives? Missing huge artists....
Edit: an explanation is much better than downvotes.... this isn’t the OT..

This is what happens when a yankee makes a movie about country music. He had to research things most everyone on this board already knows. If you have to research Hank Williams, how far will you get?

No matter where you are, nothing is better than downvotes.

Maybe DAC gets his own documentary? He is better than 99% of the country artists covered by Burns.

I think it had more to do with permanent influence on mainstream country music. I am a big fan of both DAC and Keith Whitley, but I'm not sure how much either one influenced Mainstream Country Music.
Keith Whitley's style was a really great mix of artists that had already been popular, and his career was short.
DAC wrote some really great songs, but they came years apart.

Not closely connected to Johnny Cash. This thing was damn near a Cash/Carter family documentary. BTW, I loved it despite that quibble.

Pretty sure Whitley was covered? Coe wasn't mentioned.

Keith Whitley was a great singer/musician, his fame just didn't last long. He died of alcohol poisoning, just as his career was getting going. you should check him out.
I never cared much for Clint Black either, but I will stop short of saying that he sux.

It's Ken Burns. What did you expect? Everything he spouts is based on race.

Did you watch it? I don't remember anything much about race.

Had he not died in 1989, he probably would have been the greatest country artist of all time.

Agree. Checked him out last night and he is the modern poppy version of country i don't care for. Hot wife though and sad story.
