Also, I said quit listening to the radio because you all base all of your Nashville arguments on what you hear on the radio. Quit listening to what you hear on the radio and go to Nashville and FIND the good country. What you'll find up there will absolutely destroy every song posted in the OP. :dropsmic:

Two of my favorite artists live in Nashville and they're both in the this thread.

Oh yea..... Splinters? Yea ole boy is from Nashville

one of the best songs of the year

quote:

"Elephant"

She said Andy you're better than your past,
winked at me and drained her glass,
cross-legged on the barstool, like nobody sits anymore.
She said Andy you're taking me home,
but I knew she planned to sleep alone.
I'd carry her to bed and sweep up the hair from the floor

If I hadd fricked her before she got sick
I'd never hear the end of it
she don't have the spirit for that now

We drink these drinks and laugh out loud,
bitch about the weekend crowd,
and try to ignore the elephant somehow
somehow

She said Andy you crack me up,
Seagrams in a coffee cup,
sharecropper eyes and her hair almost all gone.
When she was drunk she made cancer jokes,
she made up her own doctor's notes,
surrounded by her family, I saw that she was dying alone.

I'd sing her classic country songs
and she'd get high and sing along.
She don't have much voice to sing with now

We'd burn these joints in effegy,
cry about what we used to be,
and try to ignore the elephant somehow.
Somehow

I buried her a thousand times,
giving up my place in line,
but I don't give a damn about that now

There's one thing that's real clear to me,
no one dies with dignity.
We just try to ignore the elephant somehow.
We just try to ignore the elephant somehow.
We just try to ignore the elephant somehow.
Somehow.
Somehow.

there's a hell of a lot better stuff in Nashville than what you posted. Quit listening to the radio and go visit and FIND it

How about you drop a few links? I'm interested. I love traditional country music and am always looking.

I've been lurking in this thread since it was created and have been highly entertained. A thread celebrating good, non-radio country music and then someone comes in and argues with everyone that they should be listening to non-radio country music. Fun stuff!

yall are oblivious. I said everything in the OP sucked. I also said the argument of "Nashville sucks" is so old.

Billy Ryan-What if she don't

Matt Jenkins-Note to self

Shawn Camp-Building the fire

I rest my case. that stuff is way better than what the OP posted. it's got melody and substance.

this board has a constant hard-on for "indie country" artists. that stuff is just bad. I say this knowing i'll be ripped but I really DGAF.

Hey those 3 are good, but what's special about them?

I'm sure they have goals of getting on a big label in Nashville and "making it big" where they'll sing someone else's songs and cash in.

Nashville pop. That's what Nashville is known for now. Dwi.

well first off, I know them all and they are strictly songwriters. one does bluegrass stuff on the side. but don't fool yourself. any of the guys in the OP would sell out for a dollar at the first chance they got. if you really belive those guys are dead set on doing what their doing now, you're living in a dream world. take away the difference of opinions between us. that is just fact. if a label approached them and said we'll pay you $xxx but you have to sing these songs, they'd do it.

you're just flat out wrong. you are clinching onto an easy accusation. you DWI. obviously you just know of whats on the radio and then whats in the OP. you know nothing else.

I gave everyone of them a chance. the only one that id give a second look to would be sturgill simpson. he was the only one who was halfway decent.

you either like everything in the OP or Florida Georgia line. which is it? one has no melody (OP)and the other is cookie cutter (FGL)
