Look I like John Mayer I really do, but he's not even top 5 doing it today. So when you start comparing him to one the greatest to EVER do it...... I'm gonna laugh at you

Clapton is like twice mayers age. Im only 23 and maybe heard cocaine, i shot the sheriff, and layla a couple hundred times growing up. Idk if mayer will ever make it into the hall of fame 3 times but i doubt he goes unremembered like philip phillips might.

Alot of mayers good stuff doesnt even make it on the radio. And i blame that on producers cause it isnt as popular as the justin timberlakes and beyonces and lil waynes of my generation.

You're my age but I can still recognize how Clapton is one of the bests to ever do it and Mayer isn't even one of the best today.

Derek Trucks
Trey Anastasio

So you're saying Mayer is as good as a guy you've heard a handful of songs from?

Apparently it doesn't matter if nobody has heard it since you're throwing out Mayer = Clapton based on a couple of singles that amount to maybe 5% of Clapton's catalog.

I would agree AND say that list doesn't end there.

And this is why you think John Mayer is a top guitarist.

Derek Trucks=ABB
Trey Anastasio=Phish
Luther Dickinson= North Mississippi All Stars
John Frusciante= Formerly with Red Hot Chili Peppers

Oh I think the list is longer as well but those are 5 that proves he is not in the top 5 currently

In my mind of living guitar players it goes

1) Clapton
2) Neil young
3) B.B. King
4) John Mayer

Mayer is a fricking amazing guitarist. He is not necessarily my favorite artisist but trying to find 5 people as good as he is would be a VERY hard thing to do

I saw North MS All-Stars when they came to the Varsity. The black guy that played for a few songs was way better than Luther. All I heard was Luther hype leading up to the concert and was disappointed.
