Danny Hutton in Three Dog Night.

Played no instruments and had the weakest voice and least hit records.

This will be an unpopular answer, and it brings me no joy to say it, but this is an objectively accurate answer:

Gonna need you to show your work on that one.

The band continued on for 40 years after he died and sold approximately 100 million records in that time period.

This is not a value judgment, it's just a statement of fact.

The band continued on a platform/legacy built specifically by Duane, but I do see your point.

I think he wrote 1 song(Little Martha). He really wasn't needed for just about anything they did that was popular. Pretty much everything I like was Dickey.

Bad answer. I would argue his guitar SAVED the band. I saw them live just before he was kicked out/retired a couple of years ago, and he was by far the best performer on stage (at 71!)

I've always said the reason Crue were good was because they were menacing despite all the outward glam. Even Girls Girls Girls has a scary edge to it - and it's because of Mick.

I agree with you on Hutton.

Not to mention, he was an a-hole.

Everyone in the group ended up hating his guts.
