No need to go past the first two posts

Althea. Peggy O. US blues. Bird Song. Cassidy. Tennessee Jed. Deal. Loser. He’s gone. I honestly am just naming songs that are easier (I think) to digest first.

Do you have a source for good LSD or magic mushrooms? Do you like to listen to music while in a psychedelic state?

E72 is a fine place to start
another easy entry is the skull & roses live album and/or the april 71 live album “ladies and gentlemen”
for a good visual try the sunshine daydream movie (8/72) or the Grateful Dead movie (10/74)

I’m not a huge Dead fan, but that was my intro and it’s a good one.

Go here and read the reviews of the shows:
Setlist Program
If it sounds interesting, there is a link to listen to it on the archive.
Also go to YouTube and search. My friends have uploaded all their videos and it is fun to watch the band play as well as listen.

Long Strange Trip - pretty good documentary on Amazon Prime that uses some of their best music
A friend of mine who wasn't big into the dead watched this and became a dead fan shortly after

Ducks picks?
Legion of Mary was awesome. I’ve got a great recording from 4/21/75 at Keystone in Berkeley that I recently made copies of and gave away to relative strangers. One to a woman with a Jerry tattoo who works in the liquor store and one to a dude who moved into my old neighborhood. He was a young guy and had never heard of Jerry Garcia or the Grateful Dead.
I saw Legion of Mary saxophonist Martin Fierro play with Zero in 1995 when they were touring in support of a new album with a lot of lyrics by Robert Hunter. Great show and that’s where I got turned on to Steve Kimock (and Bobby Vega).

Those are both great albums and should be high on the list. But if you want to hear some jams then you’d be better off starting with Live/Dead. And yes, getting dosed beforehand would enhance the experience.
Another good suggestion no one has made yet is to watch the Grateful Dead Movie. It’s brilliant.

never saw Zero, but I did see KVHW and seen many Kimock shows, almost all at Chester's in Fayetteville, AR. I got to see Martin with Kimock and Vega, show was billed as Kimock and Friends I believe. Martin's cancer was pretty far along at the time. He was drawing from a deeper well that night. It was electric and amazing.
