Know theres not many here that listen to christian music and this thread will probably turn to crap but figured id go for it anyway.

Theres been a relatively good run of christian songs released lately. I think my favorites are

Greater by MercyMe

All the People Said Amen by Matt Maher

and

All Youve Ever Wanted by Casting Crowns

I'm a fan of DC Talk's entire catalog.

The only Christian song I ever liked was Jars of Clay - Flood. I just find the whole genre boring, and I'm a Christian.

My kids are at a Kanakuk day camp currently, and they're blaring Christian rap every day when I drop them off and pick them up. I gotta admit, that it's pretty good (if you like rap), though a lot of the beats sound like indirect ripoffs of popular rap songs.

I'm a Christian and have led worship quite a bit and I think the genre as a whole sucks big time. If I had to pick one artist, it'd be citizen way. Their song "could've been" is pretty good.

What I can't stand about the genre is how shallow most of the lyrics are. I wish somebody would come out and sing about real life and now God works, rather than just sunshine pumping.

I also get tired of how almost very vocalist has the English accent and sounds like the newsboys.

Just a Closer Walk with Thee, because just about all of this modern Christian music is absolutely horrible sounding.

Seems like if you weren't in a Christian metal core band 10 years ago you weren't getting any shows.

Not a Christian by any means, but Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky and Johnny Cash's Daddy Sang Bass are alright in my book.

The o.c. supertones: "who can be against me" & "louder than the mob" (wish I could find links to studio versions)

Also

Almost all contemporary renditions of "lord I lift your name on high". It's just a great song.

ETA: Sorry, didn't read "right now" but those would probably be my all time favorites so I guess it's still "right now"

I prefer the old stuff....Love Lifted Me.....Rise up for Jesus.....the new stuff just rips off whatever crap is popular and makes it more crappy while praising jesus. U2 was considered a Christian band in their early days and I liked that.

Meant to Live by Switchfoot is always a good one for me.

That's a great band talent wise...it's just ruined by their record label.
