As someone who doesn't particularly like Bruno Mars, I thought he did pretty damn well. I am not going to start listening to him, but he put on a pretty good performance last night.

I went in with extremely low expectations because I don't care for Bruno Mars' music, but I thought it actually turned out pretty good. They didn't try anything too outlandish or weird and I was digging the old school feel of the band all dressed the same and dancing in unison. Solid show IMO.

Did anyone see the SNL with him hosting. Had a funny sketch where pandora stations kept losing power and he had to sing different songs and styles.

He's trying to channel James Brown, Prince and Michael Jackson at the same time.
He's good, better than most pop acts. Nothing spectacular. He'll probably last a lot longer than most though.

I thought it was a real enjoyable show, and much better than the sad trotting out of acts who used to be good. I may even purchase their album. It wasn't transcendent like Prince or anything, but it was one of the best five halftimes, I thought, which is an admitted low standard.

that wasn't that impressive. I did that for an entire night at a new year's eve party back around '86 and had folks telling me I was the best bass player they'd ever heard play. Badass improv skills + liquor is a powerful combination.

I was pretty surprised, both acts were pretty much the exact opposite of what I expected.
I kind of thought this stage would be too big for Bruno, didn't think he was on this sort of level yet, but he just killed it IMO. The drum solo to start was awesome, good vocals and dude can dance. He looks like the most talented kid of his generation by a country mile.
On the other hand I expected big things from RHCP but was pretty disappointed. I love them live, but for some reason for that short of a segment it just didn't come off well IMO. It was just too much too quickly. Like some 15 year-old finally getting to bust a nut and just going jackrabbit on a chick for 30 seconds. Idk why, but it just didn't work for me.

Bruno Mars wasn't bad. I wasn't expecting much much but it was as pretty good. Better than I thought. It's not really my style but the guy is definitely talented.
This board tends to hate rhcp, which I never understand, but they kicked arse.
To those saying Josh (aka "fake john") is trying to hard or looks like a spaz, I'm guessing you aren't a fan of rock music or live rock concerts. Also, frick you. He's a long time friend of the band and frusciante. I can't Imagine how jacked up he must be every time he gets on stage with chad,kiedis,and flea. Can you imagine if you grew up listening to and worshiping rhcp and then being invited to join the band? That's insanely awesome.
To the people saying them and Bruno's band faked it, you might not have heard,but they invented this thing called a radio transmitter. It send wireless signals across airwaves to a receiver. The instruments each had a transmitter in lieu of wires. You can clearly see them. This is a cutting edge technology, so I can understand why you couldn't figure that out.

I guess you didn't get the memo about the whole 'instruments not being plugged in' thing
I like RHCP, but for me (and I'm sure many others) John Frusicante was the heart and soul of the band. They should have called it quits when he did.
