dont say that i hate it, but back in the Brothers Gibb post-Saturday Night Fever heyday, when they were absolutely dominating the pop music charts, i was working parttime as a DJ at a top 40 station
that June less talented kid brother Andy released a song called “An Everlasting Love” which began climbing predictably and depressingly up the charts
i vowed never to listen to it, ever, for the rest of my life - a rather daunting task considering my job and its popularity at the time
so whenever it came up in the rotation, i would start it and immediately take off my headphones and turn off the speakers in the booth
i would wait until i could see it was reaching the last few seconds before the fadeout and start the next record, so i only ever heard the first 2-3 seconds of the intro and the last 5-10 seconds of the end
i also took pains to avoid it whenever i heard it in public, even ti the point of walking out of a restaurant in the middle of a meal when i recognized the intro chords
almost 50 years later i couldn’t tell you a thing about it other than the intro
