They are badass and have plenty of fast paced songs.

Third Eye Blind’s first album is one of my favorite albums of the 90s. Partly for nostalgic reasons but also just love how the album slowly gets darker and darker as it progresses

Third eye blinds self debut album is an absolute masterpiece. The last 3 songs are the best closers of an album I’ve ever heard.

Goo Goo Dolls were good until Dizzy Up The Girl, but Iris sucks. Boy Named Goo has some bangers.

I never cared much for Matchbox Twenty.

Re: Wallflowers, I like One Headlight more now than when it was released. That song was waaaay overplayed back in the day.

Third Eye Blind is my favorite of the four mentioned by OP. The self-titled and Blue albums have plenty great songs.

I'll add these:
Tonic
Counting Crows
Toad the Wet Sprocket
Gin Blossoms

Hated them at the time, still hate them now. One of the few genres of music that has not grown on me, at all, as I've gotten older.

You might enjoy this cover album, then. Four Year Strong did an album consisting mostly of 90’s pop rock and doft rock songs in their thrashy punk/math rockish style. Fun stuff:

I'm a metal head & I love the Gin Blossoms. Their first two albums are incredible start to finish. And they are great live.

Saw them at the Varsity when One Headlight was charting and met them after the show.

This is how I see about half of the bands in the mid to late 90s. There were a lot of good bands in the decade. But there were even more that were just trying to cash in on whatever the latest fad in music might be.

Funny story I was in Cancun one time and played on the lobby piano with Johnny and his piano player (he was on another guitar) and we did ‘slide’ for a bunch of teeny bopper girls. Got the pics and everything. Definitely the coolest thing to happen in my music career cause this was probably 2008 or so when they were somewhat relevant. Johnny was super reserved and shy to the point of cocky but opened up after a while after we played that free little show and was a pretty nice guy.

I just looked it up Paul was their pianist in 2006 so it was probably then. But he was by far the coolest
