Not sure if these are still on Netflix but they are good docs.

Beware of Mr Baker.....about Ginger Baker.

Your Gonna Miss Me.....about Rocky Ericsson

Who is Harry Nilsson

X: The Unheard Music.....you might not like it if you're not an X fan. But it has some great old footage from the early 80s punk scene.

I watched it the other night and it was better than I thought. My grandmother LOVED Glenn Campbell.

What is the documentary where a bass player (I believe) of an old hair metal band is being interviewed? He is shitfaced floating in a pool chair. His mom is sitting on the deck by him, and he chugs an entire 5th of vodka like water. Let's it run all, over his face. Before or after the chugging he says something to the effect that he knows he's going to die or is an alcoholic or doesn't care if he dies.

He died not long after the filming.

Played for a second tier hair band like Kroakus or WASP? I can't remember.

"Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years." That was Chris Holmes, guitarist from W.A.S.P., in the pool with Mom looking on.

He's still alive somehow.

George Harrison: Living in a Material World. (HBO but may be on prime of netflix by now)
Rolling Stones: Stones in Exile. It's about the Exile on Main street album. Much better than the Keith Richards one. (I saw it on netflix)

20 Feet from Stardom, about backup singers, is great.

No mention of Bayou Maharajah in this thread?

For those not familiar, it's a documentary on New Orleans' own James Booker, one of the greatest pianists of our lifetime, and arguably one of the most underrated/under appreciated musicians of all time.

I liked the Eagles until I saw that documentary. Glenn Frey and Don Henley came across as the two biggest douchebags in music history.

I was disappointed in that one. I'm a huge Gun Club fan but this doc was pretty boring.

Check out Reelz tv channel. They have some pretty good docs.

Just watched one on Lennon and the Beatles
And one on Karen Carpenter.

You learn a lot about their home lives that kind of explain their behavior.
