Ok I just noticed the hard rock part, and if we're expanding to youtube I can add a few more.

Cannibal Corpse - Centuries of Torment This also kinda works as a history of death metal. It makes me appreciate them more as musicians too. This is nearly 3 hours long and includes a lot of stuff.

Slow Southern Steel About the metal scene in the south.

Until the Light Takes Us The best documentary on the Norwegian black metal scene.

Already mentioned, but Pearl Jam Twenty was great. Some other good ones are Sound City (about the Sound City recording studio in LA), and the Foo Fighters doc Back and Forth. I don't think those last 2 are on Netflix but Palladia airs them sometimes.

Without a doubt. One of the most unsuspecting + captivating documentaries ever made.

Awesome doc but I was still a bit like, "Okay, okay...stop taking so much fricking pride in being a redneck! People get it. Now, however, ALL of us will perceived that way."

Never knew EyeHateGpd was southern.

Just in time for Mardi Gras:

Piano Players Rarely Ever Play Together (1982) - Watch on YouTube

quote:

"Piano Players" is a 76 minute portrait of three great New Orleans pianists and how they influenced one another's music. It documents the best piano “professors” of the last three generations -- New Orleans’ keyboard aces Isidore “Tuts” Washington, Henry “Professor Longhair” Byrd, and Allen Toussaint -- as they played together for the first time in a rehearsal for a joint concert. The rehearsal turned out to be the ONLY time the three ever played together, because Professor Longhair died two days before the scheduled performance.

The documentary takes viewers through the very personal and sacred New Orleans tradition of a jazz wake and funeral procession for Professor Longhair, which was taped at the encouragement of his widow, Alice. Also included is the previously planned concert with Toussaint and Washington, who turned the event into a tribute to Fess.

Released to critical acclaim in 1982, "Piano Players Rarely Ever Play Together" is considered by many to be one of the most important and exciting explorations of New Orleans’ musical tradition ever made.

How to Grow a Band. It's about Chris Thile, the best mandolin player on the planet, and one of my favorite bands, Punch Brothers.

American Masters - Merle Haggard: Learning To Live With Myself (YouTube)

Might want to watch this ASAP, as it probably won't stay up long. It was uploaded to YT by the director shortly after MH's death.

If you like Floyd, the documentary of "Wish You Were Here" album is pretty solid.

Has a lot of discussion about Sid and how he fell from grace and got away from the band. It was somewhat disheartening but from what we know, accurate

With out Sid, there is no Dark Side of the Moon album but the bad did well after his disappearance.
