There's no way that they could do this. But, I really could see it costing SOMETHING now for non-students because the use of the River Center is not free...

No ID needed and it's still free.

I wonder if the River Center will sell alcohol. Should have more of a real concert feel at least. The after parties downtown will be nice though.

Probably a no because groovin' has always been against that.
And on Friday, it's the "Rivers Center".

Why couldn't they move it to the PMAC like they did with Shinedown? This totally sucks arse. Parking is going to be a huge money grab and a lot of students who were planning on going to this will probably be turned away by this decision.

There's some coaches thing in the PMAC. They could have used Parker Coliseum instead.

This puts a damper on my plans. I wonder if there will be security at the River Center? And if so, I wonder how strict. My plan of chilling on the lawn in the back is now shot.

Yeah I'm not going anymore

My thoughts exactly. Im out. Plus no way they sell alcohol at the river center, the show is supposed to celebrate being drug and alcohol free.

Groovin' on the Grounds will be held Friday, March 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Baton Rouge River Center Arena in downtown Baton Rouge. This event is free and open to the public. Doors to Groovin' on the Grounds will open at 7 p.m. in the northwest ground floor portal nearest the box office and northeast second floor portal entrances.
Groovin' on the Grounds is proud to support a student-driven festival lineup featuring Weezer with Pepper and LSU Battle of the Bands winner Deacon Jones. Deacon Jones' set will begin at 7:30 p.m., Pepper's set will begin at 8:30 p.m., and Weezer's set will begin at 9:30 p.m. Patrons who wish to experience the concert on the ground floor will be wrist-banded for identification and enforcement of space capacity. Seating will also be available in the upper levels of the arena; wrist-bands will not be required for seated areas.
The Baton Rouge River Center will be enforcing strict no alcohol and no tobacco policies as well as no re-entry at any time and no admittance after 10 p.m. policies.
Students on target really know how to throw a party. :eyeroll: I'll be downtown tomorrow evening regardless, so I'll go and see how it is, but I'm not expecting much.

If it's free to enter how do they enforce a "no reentry at any time" policy? Just go out, take off wristband, go back in...Maybe I'm missing something here. Unless they're marking hands or something like a bar would do when you walk in.

Sounds like they could do that, or maybe they could just recognize someone coming back in...not sure. Also, wristbands are for the floor only...so you would have nothing and require nothing to leave and enter the seated areas.
Would be nice if they sold beer, but whatever.

this shouldn't surprise anyone... SOT has always been anti-drug/no drinking

This. SOT's job is to put on music events while under the watchful eye of the University's fun police. In order to book bands, they have to play by the insane administration's rules and force bands and venues to adhere to them as well.
