BLM
Antifa
Cops Bad
White Men Bad
Republicans Bad
Anthem Protests
Literally Hitler

The U.S. wasn't ready for Rage in '92.
But they would be leading the militant left charge if the Immolated Monk album were released today

Not really. 25 years ago wasn’t that different to today with the Rodney King riots. It’s not like NWA wasn’t also blasting “f$&k the police”.

I have thought about this same question at length. I am someone who considers myself(a straight, white male) a libertarian who ends up having to vote Republican mostly because the Democratic party is just too far gone so the guys in Rage wouldn't piss on me if I was laying on the ground in front of them on fire. They are actually to the left of the Democratic party. Tom is an open Communist. That being said, I was & still am a huge Rage fan. I saw them at Lolapalooza 96 in New Orleans & it was probably the greatest performance I ever witnessed.

I am convinced that when they came on the scene they thought non-whites would flock to them based on their message but it turned out when they looked out into the crowd it was about 99% white & mostly male. I think this quietly upset them but they didn't come right out & say it as it would look like "those whites win again". I seriously think this & Zach's aloofness caused the breakup of the band.

Have you ever met a black Rage fan? I haven't. Over the years I have actually introduced Rage to black friends & while they like the lyrics, they just don't the music. It really is amazing how many black people know nothing about Rage. I am actually glad they are not together at this time because if they were together now they might be making things even worse than they are with our divide.

an entire band of communists, living & making money in a capitalist system, sponsored by sony. lol jesus, i know they've been packaged as serious revolutionaries, but they're no more communist than taylor swift.

you can even purchase one of tom morello's signature "communist" hats that he's marketed to you for years. how does that not say it all?

I think they're more upset that more of their fans didn't take up their political causes. Its just dumb frat guy jocks that want to jump up and down and mosh.

No. Morrello is just an ultra liberal elite ivy league educated progressive dipshit that runs his mouth about nonsensical policies that could never work in the free world while hoarding money and doing nothing about the injustices he bitches about constantly.

DeLaRocha is also a highly educated ultra liberal SJW. His parents were artists and activists and he went to Irvine.

I love the music of RATM but their beliefs are asinine.

The US isn't ready for RATM today any more than they were 25 years ago. Youngsters today just suck arse.

I love RATM as a musical act. Their politics, though, are the typical 90’s “I espouse leftist ideology because it’s the hip, antiestablishment thing to do, but I don’t actually believe any of the stuff I’m saying. I just say it because it makes my dad mad,” garbage. As someone in this thread has already pointed out, they are living the lives of dyed-in-the-wool capitalists, while shouting about how much they love communism. Look past the lies, as Zach himself is fond of saying.

Well, he is a typical elitist douchebag. Him acting out like that and expecting special treatment is to be expected.

I was a big fan of his music in college (pretty stereotypical), but I grew out of it.

I still love their music. I don't get butthurt about their politics. It's just Noam Chomsky set to music. There's certainly room for criticism in a democracy.

No, they were about 8 years ahead of their time. About 2000 everyone was doing the rock/rap thing.

I guess they were the godfathers of the " butthurt- I'm so offended generation". Raging against the "man" while cashing million dollar checks. IDIOTS imho.

Was with you until this part.

Yes, I know black RATM fans....

that said I will say The Battle of New Orleans show in 1999 was amazing, and I'm blessed to have a great audio bootleg of it.

I dont care about their politics.

His voice is the most annoying voice in rock music ever. Could never listen to them.

Turn the channel immediately when it comes on. Terrible.

Not really. NWA and Public Enemy were at the forefront of social justice with angst. RATM were appealing to the Anarchist-Commie/ELF movement types of the west coast at the time. I think their in-your-face rap laid to rock appealed to the white kids more at the time. Maybe that may lead you to think that.

I can still enjoy it if the mood hits. But I don't let politics sway the music I listen to. I like it all.

I love his voice in Rage, but I find his solo stuff grating and don't really listen to it.
