I know he was talented, not knocking that... He could play a lot of instruments. He understood music..
I just feel like a lot of his songs were lacking. He wasn't a great vocalist

Have you ever listened to “Sign O’ The Times” in its entirety? If so, even tho I disagree with your premise, I respect your opinion. To me, Prince’s only musical peer was Stevie Wonder and Stevie was before his time. Here’s one of my favorite tracks from Prince, and it was never released as a single!

To each his own, but I thought his voice was magical at times. Example: “For You”, an acapella arranged and sung all by a 17 y/o Prince
Lyrics:
All of this and more
is for you
With love, sincerity and deepest care
My life with you, I share

I know it's going to seem like blasphemy because of the entire "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" performance and all that, but his guitar work is overrated. Don't get me wrong, he was a good guitarist and great overall musician, but to consider him the best guitarist EVER based almost solely on that one performance is laughable.

Pretty talented, but an overrated guitarist.
That's where it ends.

No. Underappreciated to the extreme.

Underrated.
He knew what it took to get females roused up in a sexual way with his lyrics and music. Panties dropping music.

Underrated by most
Overrated by some
Strange doesn’t always mean good, strange and good doesn’t always mean genius

That's a great one, and he has DOZENS of unreleased songs that could have been hits.
It's almost impossible to name my favorite Prince songs, but I can offer these 2.
"The Ballad of Dorothy Parker"
"Do U Lie?"

Another Prince song that shows off his vocals is the song “Adore”.
There are so many colors to his voice, from the soaring high falsettos, to the gospel/soulful passion, to his natural tenor voice, to the humorous/playful ad libs, to the throaty shouts, to the intricately layered harmonies of just his voice. He is the only one singing here, so every vocal track combines into a choir of Prince! It’s really a masterclass arrangement of vocal variety:
I think it’s just lazy to say Prince was not a good vocalist. Maybe he wasn’t the greatest, but I could literally name thousands of pop, rock, soul, indie, folk, country, jazz etc. singers that couldn’t produce or merely cover his song Adore.

Fantastic overall musician. But nowhere even in the discussion for top guitarists.

Was/Is Prince overrated?
As an instrumentalist, he was underrated for many years - until the infamous While My Guitar Gently Weeps ensemble solo came out, which then gave every wannabe piker in the world the opportunity to pretend they had discovered something big. We've had a whole thread on it here, but that event is massively overrated and has turned him into an overrated instrumentalist as well.
Pull up any of his albums and the median song is a yawner. Even his biggest hits don't move the needle THAT much. Purple Rain is probably in retrospect his best tune.

Prince Rules
regardless of your feelings on his music, you should wish we still had popstars like him

As a guitarist, probably. As an artist, musician, and song writer, not at all.
