I’m don’t know many “Americans” that would call Blink 182 punk. More Skater Rock which they are the GOATs of. And laughable that you mock Blink 182 when they have a musician who is clearly as or more talented than any single musician in any era or sub genre of punk

I’m with you on Bon Jovi. Van Halen, absolutely not.

I also theorize that Edge gave himself his own nickname like a douche but has created made up backstories for it so he doesn’t look like a douche

D.H. Evans. Now repeat the first initials over and over in your irish accent.

How about “Bono Vox” … mimics good voice in Latin

Some of their album cuts are good - even latter day stuff.

I do like the fact they changed their sound on Achtung Baby. I think it was even ballsy to release 'The Fly' as the first single from the album, only to have it flop. 'Mysterious Ways' rescued the rest of it.

Off of Achtung, I'm a big fan of "Who's going to ride your wild horses".

Pretty much, though I much prefer Joshua Tree.

ETA: many would probably argue that Document would be a better fit here for REM, but I disagree.

I think U2 is hit or miss but I’ve never understood why One was such a popular song for them.

Listen to the version they did with Mary J. Blige.

Unpopular opinion: Joshua Tree made them superstars, The Unforgettable Fire is their best album.

I don't agree with that position but I can understand why someone would take that position. The Unforgetable Fire might be their most underrated album, especially since it falls in between the album that first put them in the public eye and the album where they went supernova but The Joshua Tree is the masterpiece of their career.

Yes, because when I think of pop songs the first thing that comes into my mind is Bullet the Blue Sky, Red Hill Mining Town, and Running to Stand Still.

What is a big-time band? I am not sure they are a "big-time band" but the band that seems to get retroactive love that I just can't stand is the Ramones. Just never did it for me. I know many will disagree

I always liked Rattle and Hum. All I Want is You always feels intense and the live version of Bullitt the Blue Sky is pretty damned good

Well that's absurd

They are easily the greatest band of all time but being great means the haters will be extra loud.

his has become quite the popular narrative recently

Popular with who? The rank #2 behind wealthiest bands (behind The Beatles) of all time and that's due to people selling out stadiums to see them.

Their Joshua Tree tour a few years ago was such a hit they added stops.

U2 is the definition of a "big time band."

If they aren't, then the term big time band doesn't exist
