Some don't like the Doors....
Well....People Are Strange.

Never really got into them, thought it was fairly simplistic. Then I heard my Dad talking about some of their material, so I revisited and damned if he wasn't correct. There were some super performances on those records.

I've never heard anyone say they hate The Doors.

Gotta be a certain age and a certain mood or intoxication level to enjoy The End or When the Musics Over.
Not! When The Music's Over is beyond amazing.
They're one of the most awesome bands of the 60s, period.

Meaning more for the average fan.
I love the song. And his poet ramble. “What have they done to the Earth?”
Morrison SAW climate change, man. He SAW it before 1970. Lol

I don’t really have a strong opinion on them either way but I know a lot of people hate them. What’s the reason?
Wait, people hate The Doors?
First time I've read this tbh

Riders on the Storm is an awesome underrated song

It’s their Stairway To Heaven IMO. It is a great song, but I change the channel. Just overplayed. “There’s a killer on the road. His brain is squirming like a toad”. Great line. It would be a wtf line in a song released today. I can’t imagine what a 1968-1970 audience/public must have thought.

The Doors
Since someone brought up The Doors. On this date, Dec 12th 1970, they played their last concert ever. The concert took place at the Warehouse in New Orleans.

I always thought they were a talented band hijacked by Morrison's psuedointellectual pretensions. But he looked like a rock star, and had a pretty decent voice in the early days, before he destroyed it with excess.
There's still a lot of their stuff that I like, much of it mentioned here, but my favorites are "Break On Through", "Five to One" and "Texas Radio and the Big Beat".
And I thoroughly enjoyed Oliver Stone's trippy biopic when I saw it in the theatre. Not sure if its held up though, since I haven't seen it since.
All that said, however, they violate my most sacred musical rule: never trust a band without a bass player.

Their blues stuff is pretty good

Actually it was Riders on the Storm that made him quit. He called it cocktail lounge music.
My personal opinion of the The Doors.
There's nothing better than a good Doors song. There's nothing worse than a bad Doors song. There is no such thing as an average Doors song. The most artistically uneven great band in the history of rock and roll.

You win the thread. Lol
OP. Tell him what he’s won.
I won’t sit through Riders. I can’t see ever getting tired of LA Woman.

The Doors are easily my favorite band of the 60's. One of my all time favorites as well.

I can totally get behind that statement.
