The Deftones - White Pony album

I listened to White Pony today for the first time in probably fifteen years. Good grief, what a fantastic album. Every single track is strong. Moreno is the Elizabeth Fraser of metal vocalists- he plays his voice like an instrument.

GOAT deftones for sure.
That album has a lot of nostalgia for me, I was in my prime when it came out, got to see it live in NOLA, met Chino, went out drinking with him.
The album itself is unreal, from the first note to the last, a true masterpiece. So much ambiance and just energy and you can feel it. The atmosphere is really amazing, they let Frank Delgado rip on the turntables/synth on this album and white pony is deftones at the height of their powers.
And you have Maynard guest vocals for the cherry on top.
One of my favorite albums ever.

How old are you?
I love Adrenalin and around the fur and kinda thought white pony was a let down when I was younger because it wasn’t as hard as the first two. As I’ve aged white pony has become my go to album.
Passenger may be one of my all time favorite songs! I mean roll the window down this cool night air is curious?

Around the fur is by far their best album. Adrenaline is prolly tied with white pony.
Their cover of Duran Duran Chauffeur is also really good.
Deftones and Incubus in Little Rock 1999 was my first ‘real’ concert. Lied to parents and everything to get there.

Agree with this 100%
I love all 3 but White Pony is clearly above the rest. Adreneline was an awesome raw debut (chino w dreads) ATF was them getting close to that signature sound, becoming more melodic, (I love Lhabia, Be Quiet and Drive might be my favorite song of theirs) but White Pony is the first album they featured Frank Delgado as an actual band member (he only guest appeared on ADR. and ATF) and it shows. The atmosphere is amazing on that record.

I had heard the bands previous albums in high school and liked them, however, the moment when white pony came out and someone put the cd in my truck while we were driving around, I almost lost my breath from the beginning of “back to school”. It was like hearing Kashmir by Led Zeppelin for the first time. It remains my favorite Def tones album.

Negative, there must be an age gap here.
The first time I heard of deftones was when a friend of mine accidentally ordered Adrenaline from Columbia House. Remember that shite? Ten cds for a penny? Yeah most people won’t.
We freaked out on that shite and caught them at Shanahans in Lafayette and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Hung out with Steph and Abe after the show and smoked and asked when they were coming out with new shite and they were like dude, we just put this shite out!
Yeah any deftones fan with any kind of age will go:
Adrenaline
Around the fur
White pony
Etc...
And frick Gore...

Adrenaline came out when I was in high school and I hated it. Still have no desire to listen to it again.
