Can this album just get its due. Ac/dc would cut its balls off to be this band. We all remember the 1st time we heard it. And if not you probably grew up soft..

Hell yeah...
Played that until the tape wore out a couple of times.

I remember buying when it came out. The guy behind the counter said, you listen to some weird music.

A friend tossed me the cassette one day and it was on. I really like their new stuff too. If you have not checked out Hidden City, you should. Not many bands stand the test of time and still right new music. Most are on greatest hits tours and never see the studio again. The Cult are still practicing their art form. CFFC!

I’m 37 and never really listened to any of their music besides the stuff on the radio.

I think it does? On here at least.
They stopped experimenting like they were doing with Love. Just played a rock album. Watched some interview where they said the new producer told them after listening to Love, "that's a nice sound.... Now here's a Les Paul and a Marshall. Off you go."

I think this is a good album and I think it gets beyond its due. I think many have gone to the bank claiming this is the best Cult album. Heaviness wise? This is it. But me and many more come from the Dreamtime/Love camp. And the original demo of this album to me is far more connected to that sound. The guitars were more distorted and swirled and Ian was still the almost androgynous mysterious frontman as he had been in his 3 videos from the Love album.
Rick R cleaned the Peace Album/Manor Sessions up. And yes, he gave them instant ACDC-like qualities.
One day they were gypsies. The next day they're riding motorcycles and growing their hair out into mullets. And there is no question...they built on that sound and never went back. But aside from the 2009 Love Tour when I heard, I would love to hear them play songs like this live (a few I heard on their tour):
Go West
God's Zoo
The Snake
Little Face
Big Neon Glitter
The Phoenix
Judith
Horse Nation
Moya
Some come from even before the Cult formed^.

Younger, bent toward metal me said “Electric” was the best Cult album. Older, more musically experienced me says it’s “Love”. One of my favorite bands ever.

That producer was Rick Rubin.

and then Bob Rock came along for Sonic Temple and said "Who says you cant be Whitesnake?"

Steve Brown outdid both of them in my opinion. Lest not forget 2 albums after Sonic Temple when the Cult wanted to be sonic youth meets Pearl Jam. Thankfully they play none of that shite on their great tours.

Ian had heard Rubin's work on the BB's "Cooky Puss" and somehow that track, of all tracks, sparked new interest. Rubin basically met with him and Billy and Jamie and said "Yall wanna be rock stars right? We gonna leave all that queer British shite behind?"

You got a perfect way
All the things that you play
Cut clearly like a knife to the bone
Mama's calling you, you'll never get back home
Never get back home, never get back home
Where do I begin? I’ve only wore out a cassette and a CD of this album. Love and Electric is like the anthem of my life.
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
All the things that you play
Cut clearly like a knife to the bone

Never get back home, never get back home

Got Electric the day it came out and saw them on this tour at the Saenger.
Before Electric came out I wanted them to put out Love part 2. Love was a fun album. After this came out I was glad they did not redo Love. Great album.

Was that Ceremony?
I liked Ceremony..
Posted on 1/13/19 at 2:59 pm to LSU alum wannabe
Ceremony might be the worst album they ever put out. I liked one song "White". The band was not getting along and they could not top Sonic Temple. This was the album that damn near killed the band.
