Goodness those bloody Beatles are so sophemoric with their “Love Me Do” and “I wanna hold your hand”! Why can’t young folk play GOOD music like Count Basie, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington! Those young whippersnappers wouldn’t know good music if it crooned in their ear growing up surrounded by nothing but crap!

I just want to say how proud I am of you for not putting Greta van fleet on your list.

The Chats
Freedom Band
The Murlocs
Oh Sees
SLIFT
Viagra Boys
King Gizz was the 7th coolest band that came to mind
FUZZ
ORB
The Meatbodies

That's one genre of music with 10 bloody ripper legends off the top of my head.

Now do that for country, metal, pop, indie, jazz, bluegrass hell even disco (do yourself a favor and Google image Dua Lipa)...good music is everywhere for any genre in 2021 folks...just have to pull your head out the sand and look around.

As much crap as GVF gets and what I’m about to get, I’ve seen them 3 times and never not left amazed.

People love to hate them and it’s sad. The worst part of the band is obviously but get past it

Everyone here knows who GVF is because we have threads on them at least once a month. I’m trying to help people find bands that tour nationally, but that they might not have heard before.

I like GVF, but I was not impressed with their latest album. It wasn’t bad, and it showed them developing their own sound, and what not, but it was boring for me.

I'm in my 60s and have seen both GVF and the band they've ripped off-Led Zeppelin. I can honestly say that neither are/were very good.

However, they do have a lot in common. Zeppelin ripped most of their catalog off old blues musicians, while GVF ripped their catalog off of one band, that ripped off old blues musicians.

…and since that puts me square in Gen-X, I’m just gonna sit out the “Boomer vs. Milennial/Gen-Z” mudslinging in here and cue up some rock/funk/blues/jam/alternative/metal/goth/punk/bluegrass/pop/disco/doo-wop/classical tracks, from 1955 to 2021, on the big rig and jam for a bit.

as you were…

That seems about right. I feel like the youngest dude on this board by quite a bit, and I’m 30.

I'm 30 as well

21 here. I’d say I wish I was born in a different era or something but I have it all at my fingertips now so really this is the best time to be alive for music. Even if the stuff that’s popular today is mostly bad.

1960 - 1975 rock n roll w/heap of grunge, scoop of Motown and and sprinkle of Doo wap tunes...is how I roll.

I was born in wrong decade.

I was just commenting about being older than most on another thread. I am 65 in December, still think the greatest period of music was 1966-1974. But I look forward to going back to music clubs and concerts now that everything is opening back up. While I love old jazz, blues, funk, prog, psychedelic 60's (my favorite) I always keep an open ear for new indie music and still love lots of current metal (stoner, thrash, etc)

Yeah, its a perpetual generational thing. But I know a lot of younger people who feel the same way I do.

Such a depressing thread.

Translation: "I'm stuck in an asinine mentality where it's only possible for good music to exist if I grew up with it. I refuse to give newer music a chance because reasons."
