How did her management let her release that terrible cover of one of the greatest songs of all time?

Only explanation for how terrible that was is that she is racist.

It was actually pretty good. People just decided it would be terrible before they listened.

Swizzle is too perfectly contrived for little white girls. I bet she’s a charm to be around in person

September. I am not mad, but it is not good. I am all for doing covers and making the song your own, but this just does not work they way she did it. She should have gone more poppy like her other recent stuff.

Nah...it's pretty weak for a cover.

Just found it. I am not a fan of hers or pop at all. This is way better than just about anything I hear my wife listen to on Hits 1. I disagree with your post completely. This is one of those rare instances of changing the song in a way that actually works. People who like pop and have never heard EW&F are going to love this.

I mean it’s just doing what Kenny g did to jazz. Not saying it’s bad. Made it super mainstream and listenable for the masses. Removed the funk and dynamics and put in more sentimental stuff and of course the edgy banjo in pop. Not bad not amazing.

I've seen EW&F many times in concert and I love their stuff. I also don't give much thought to Taylor Swift and her music. However, I think this song came out pretty well. Might open the door to more exposure of EW&F music to her younger fans.

BTW, here's the link to her version.

It's just like any other "unplugged" song. I don't see the big deal. I don't think it should move the needle in either direction.

Just saying, given her shitty catalog and my low expectations before I listened to it, this cover was pretty good.

Nah, it's pretty terrible.

The original song is one of the most upbeat feel-good groove songs ever recorded. Tay re-worked it into a depressive valium-infused arrangement, which belies it's sunny lyrics.

Whereas, Sam Smith covered Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know" with a crying despair...and it actually fit the hopeless lyrics that Whitney so inappropriately danced to.

I didn't pre-determine I wouldn't like TS's September. It was just doesn't work.

I gave it a fair shot, and I must say I absolutely hated it. I kinda like when people will do a cover of a song and make it their own. But this just did not do it for me at all. Then again maybe I'm biased in that I'm a big fan of Earth Wind & Fire, and I dont care for Taylor at all.

I'm not a huge fan of "unplugged" covers, but I think it sounds fine. Unclear why people are shitting on it.

It was actually pretty terrible. No one should ever cover that song, let alone turn it into a folksy rendition. Everything she does comes off as pretentious and fake. And she can’t sing.
