Was that due to the sound, or due to Napster labeling the song as such back in the day?
I know Dash Rip Rock’s “Lets go smoke some Pot” was attributed wrong on Napster as well.

Bitch - Meredith Brooks
Just assumed it was Alanis Morissette when I was a kid in the 90s.
I also assumed several AIC songs were Nirvana when I heard them on the radio.

This caused me much confusion and many a lost arguments back in the day. I know "Dream On" was labeled as Led Zeppelin and maybe "House of the Rising Sun" as well.

I could have sworn Bittersweet Symphony was Oasis not the Verve.

I thought by your comment U2 did a cover I didn’t know about. They didn’t but you did lead me to this cool version.
Ashcroft and Coldplay - Bittersweet Symphony
Mine is The Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana.

First time I heard "I Can't Hold Back" I thought it was Journey.
Didn't know it was Survivor.
Jimi Jamison has a similar voice to Steve Perry.
