The hand claps in this were intended only to assist timing for the guitar opening riffs and to be removed from the end product, but after the recording John decided he liked it this way.

I always thought the percussion in Buddy Holly's "Everyday" was interesting.

Just looked it up and while close it's not actually hand clapping.
