This is the perfect answer.

A lot of names are being thrown out that were very well known in the 70's and 80's.

The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia - Vicki Lawrence

(Yes, she was famous for the Carol Burnett Show. Not many know she charged with this song.)

Does anyone remember a song from about 1977 called "Smoke From a Distant Fire"? It was a great song and they played it a lot, but WHO DID THE SONG?

Another thing out at the same time was a rocker called "Black Betty". The song is quite well known, but who out there remembers Ram Jam?

Right Down the Line - Gerry Rafferty

ETA...Rafferty is actually involved in two of these. He was also a member of Stealers Wheel when they sang Stuck in the Middle With You

another ETA...I didn't see the Gerry Rafferty reference above...I knew the songs, but never knew anything about him.

bigger I'd say. They were strong in the pop world, and lots of near metalheads worshiped Neal Schonn

Fantastic guitar player, regardless of what you might think of Journey's music.
