I actually added Ballroom Blitz. Still, 99% of people have no idea who The Sweet is. They were cheesy as frick and had no staying power.
Fox on the Run was an iconic 70's tune. So was Love is Like Oxygen.

I love tons of stuff from that era...Sweet, Slade, Raspberries, Big Star, Badfinger.
Just great, pure, fun music.
Of these, I think Big Star may have some of the music that most people may find to be least palatable. 'September Gurls', 'In The Street' and 'Thirteen'are pop (power pop?) classics, whereas Third/Sister Lovers is a bit all over the place for some people.

I can think of a few songs from the late 50s/early 60s that may fit.
At the Hop - Danny & the Juniors
Runaway - Del Shannon
Why Do Fools Fall in Love - Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers

I saw Foghat in the Assembly Center back in the day and they rocked that place.
Drivin' Wheel, Stone Blue, Sweet Home Chicago (cover), It Hurts Me Too, Burnin' the Midnight Oil in addition to their bigger songs are so good.

I love it when my favorite artists cover each other.
Matthew Sweet - Ballad Of El Goodo
Kelly Willis - When My Baby's Beside Me

Ask 50 people (50 years of age) who wrote and recorded, I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You..............
I grew up in the 70's and got tired of telling people.....who wrote and recorded those great APP songs.

I Just Want to Make Love to You
Fool for the City
Third Time Lucky
Although I think Drivin' Wheel and Stone Blue might have hit top 40.
