I guess you can include solo acts as well.
I like Bleachers (Jack Antonoff's band), but am not really into Fun.

Don't necessarily enjoy these MORE, but probably at least just as much:
Them Crooked Vultures
One Day as a Lion
Temple of the Dog
Mad Season

Middle Brother is much better than Deer Tick or Delta Spirit.
I'm omitting Dawes

Was going to add that....only saw them a couple of times but the shows weren't even sold out....much more agreeable scene than the Dead after they got so massive.

This would be mine for Deer Tick only. I think DS are awesome, but that's me.
And yes, Dawes, equally awesome.

Bruce Dickinson's solo work is not better than Maiden's...but it's still great. His 2 or 3 best songs are better than the average Maiden song.
Marty Friedman's solo albums are much different - but equally as good - as anything he ever did in Megadeth.
Valley of Eternity - a glorious masterpiece

I am going to cheat as well, Fantomas isn't as great as Faith No More, but it is a helluva listening experience. What can you say about Mike Patton? Genius or madman?
