Serious Taylor Swift question

Help me understand why she is a superstar. I’m not debating her lyrics. I’m sure they are great. It’s the actual melodies, the music itself I have a problem with.
I have pulled up her top ten songs on YouTube and have yet to hear one even remotely decent interesting catchy tune. The actual melodies are completely lame, lackluster and uninteresting. Very amateur sounding and uninspired.

Just keep listening to your Led Zeppelin, old man. Accept the fact that some music isn’t made with you in mind, and go about your business.

I've posted this before:
She (or more likely the REAL PEOPLE creating her music), have nailed the bullseye with middle and high school white (and even other races) females.
"I go on too many dates teehee" and "got a long list of ex lovers they tell me I'm flucked up" represent the goldilocks zone for these fans.
They either relate to her through her songs, or FANTASIZE about being her or one of her Swifties.
We are never ever ever never maybe probably never ever getting back together most likely. To quote our 45th best president"C'MON MAN!!!!".

I do not understand the mind of 15 year old girls. Not even when I was 15. Neither do you.
If you capture the 15 year old girl market you have the world on a string.
Swift has managed better than almost anyone to age with her fans and keep them interested. I heard a couple days ago that she is 33 now? She has kept the 30 year old fans interested and the flaws in pop music now have allowed her to keep selling her older stuff to new 15 year olds.
I don't like her, but don't hate her either. She plays an instrument or two. She did write her own songs. I don;t know how much of the lifting she does know on writing?

Taylor swift is a good songwriter as far as who her audience is. Obviously the way her songs got produced is fantastic, most of these were just 4 chords with a capo at different places and people like max Martin turned them into adolescent gold. There is a lot of herd mentality within her fan base as far as popularity goes. You are NOT her target audience. I think songs like invisible string and dear John are examples of her being a pretty damn good writer as far as a basic player goes.
As far as not hearing anything “catchy” from her I don’t really understand because shes got plenty that is considered, and I would consider, “catchy”. She’s one of the best in the business as far as “catchy” goes in todays pop world.

I don't get it. I can't stand her or her music. The songs that I've heard from her aren't even structured like songs. They just sound like monologues or lectures.
She's the female Ed Sheeran and that's not a compliment.

I honestly couldn't name one song of her songs... But when the missus has pointed one out to me... Ive never seen what the hype was all about, though I don't come away hating it..
I just chalk it up to a cultural phenomenon thats bigger than the actual music itself... I mean she just sold out 3 nights at Soldier Field here at astronomical prices... that is fricking amazing...

Brilliant marketing. In interviews she is self-deprecating, does the humble brag thing, and really hones in on her “relatability.” I’m just like you, goofy, awkward in love, blah blah blah. Occasionally she owns up to being a smart and powerful businesswoman. And she is. She also pays attention to and communicates with her fan base.

I wish that I could say the same. But he's in the regular rotation on the playlist where I work and it's torture. "I'm in love with your body" has to be one of the dumbest songs ever recorded.

It's objectively some of the catchiest shite out there unless you're just being a contrarian.

She's not really known for attracting a diverse audience.

Old, lame white dudes are literally pissed about everything except Hey Dudes and Academy. It’s embarrassing.

Soyboys with zero testosterone white knighting for an average looking talentless ho who patterns her songs to appeal to teenage girls are an embarrassment to society.

Because she has that white bread auto tuned annoying sound that the kids enjoy today.

My 23 year old daughter (no pics) is a huge Swiftie. I've tried to listen to some TS songs. They all sound the same to me. But they know her market and it ain't me or folks like me.

Simply said
ME: Not my style, but nothing says that makes her bad, and she'll long long be remembered for doing something she loves. Would 'beat the hell' out of my daughter listening to Marilyn Manson.

Pretty much what he said. Everyoe has different tastes, and obviously hordes of people love her music. Personally, I mostly listen to stuff like Megadeth, Pantera, Metallica, etc. But I find just about all of her hits to be very catchy. Not a fan of her more recent overtly commercialized pop stuff, but I can see why it sells. Thought her earlier acoustic guitar-driven stuff demonstrated a lot of songwriting talent though.
