The End by Pearl Jam

Complete PJ dork here. But it’s amazing that they put this out on the same album as Just Breathe. 2 absolute gut punchers.

Just Breathe can be interpreted as a love song but if you listen to it it is horribly sad. The End you listen to any line and realize it’s sad.

Whiskey Myers: The Reckoning. Guy's wife dies, he tries to drink it off, can't, and blows his brains out at her gravesite.

Cinderella by contemporary Christian artist Steven Curtis Chatman. It's akin in theme to Cats in the Cradle except from a father/daughter perspective instead of father/son. Soon after composing the song, it took on additional meaning when he lost a child in a tragic accident. As a father of 3 girls and one granddaughter it makes me reflect on my struggles with work/family balance and the frailty of life. I don't know what I'd do if I lost any of them and my heart goes out to anyone who has had to endure that.

4am - OLP

Blood - Middle East:

Grandfather, weary soul, you'll fly
Over your life once more before you die
Since our grandma passed away
You've waited for forever and a day
Just to die
And someday soon
You will die

It was the only woman you ever loved
That got burnt by the sun too often when she was young
And the cancer spread
And it ran into her body and her blood
And there's nothing you can do about it now

While not an original, Jamey Johnson's rendition of Lead Me Home is pretty sad.
