Thanks Delta for suggesting the Valley Girl Soundtrack. It's been a long time since I have listened to a lot of those songs. Eyes of a Stranger was one of my favorites in HS.

"Do Wot You Do" by INXS could have been such a good song, but it was rushed and they only ended up writing one verse for it, and just repeating it twice.

I loved it but its production was poor. I still have the Iggy Pop Repo Man on my jogging playlist.

"The last American Virgin" soundtrack was pretty damned solid as well.

A great movie and sound track. Jon Cryer became a legend in that flick…
An 80’s masterpiece. Along with many others. The 80’s were by far the best decade for everything in my lifetime.

I'm looking for the Joke with a microscope. Even ChatGTP agrees with me....

Repo Man has the better soundtrack, and here’s why:
While Pretty in Pink has a solid selection of iconic ‘80s new wave and post-punk (The Psychedelic Furs, New Order, The Smiths, etc.), Repo Man goes harder, weirder, and more subversive. It’s a raw, high-energy mix of punk rock legends—The Circle Jerks, Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, Fear—that perfectly matches the film’s anarchic, absurdist tone.
Unlike Pretty in Pink, which leans into a more polished, romanticized version of ‘80s youth culture, Repo Man taps into the underground, giving you a grittier, angrier, and more authentically rebellious sound. It’s not just a good soundtrack—it’s a sonic middle finger, making it a perfect fit for Alex Cox’s offbeat, anti-establishment classic.
Plus, let’s be real: Emilio Estevez driving around in a radioactive Chevy Malibu while Iggy Pop’s theme song blasts in the background is way cooler than anything in Pretty in Pink.

Purple Rain
Solid selection, but it loses points because it could just have easily been a Prince studio album and they built a movie around it. But a solid selection.

Big Chill
Another solid selection. The problem with this one is, All the music is not from the 1980's but the 60's and 70's. It's not really an "80's" soundtrack.

"Sixteen Candles", "Top Gun" & "Dirty Dancing" are my favorite movie soundtrack albums of the 1980's.

The Epitome of the 80’s

One of the best soundtracks of the ‘80s or any year.
"Epitome"...one of the most misused words in the English language. Is it the best soundtrack or an average typical example which is what Epitome actually means?
