One of the best soundtracks of the ‘80s or any year.
It includes songs by The Psychedelic Furs, New Order, The Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, INXS, OMD, Suzanne Vega with Joe Jackson, Jesse Johnson, Belouis Some and more.
Full Soundtrack

Otis- “Try a little Tenderness” playing in the gif

As with previous films by John Hughes, Pretty in Pink featured a soundtrack composed mostly of new wave music. While director Howard Deutch originally intended the film to primarily contain theme music, Hughes influenced Deutch's decision to use post-punk music throughout the film.
The title song by the Psychedelic Furs acted as a bit of inspiration for the film and was re-recorded specifically for the film's opening sequence in a version that was less raw than the original version that appeared on the 1981 album Talk Talk Talk.
The first track, "If You Leave", by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, was written in 1985 specifically for the film.
If You Leave
In addition to their soundtrack song "Shellshock", New Order also contributed an instrumental version of "Thieves Like Us" and the instrumental "Elegia", both of which appear in the film but not on the soundtrack.
Shellshock

The Rave-Ups, who appear in the film performing "Positively Lost Me" and "Shut-Up" from their Town and Country album, do not have any songs on the soundtrack album.
Nik Kershaw's "Wouldn't It Be Good" appears on the soundtrack in a version by former Three Dog Night vocalist Danny Hutton's band, Danny Hutton Hitters.
The Smiths' "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" appears on the soundtrack.
Also noteworthy is the inclusion of Echo & the Bunnymen's "Bring On the Dancing Horses", which, according to the liner notes of the CD release of the band's compilation album Songs to Learn & Sing, was recorded specifically for the film.

The film also includes Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness", to which Duckie lip-synchs in the film, the Association's "Cherish" and Talk Back's "Rudy". These three tracks do not appear on the official soundtrack album.

1. If You Leave - Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
2. Left of Center - Suzanne Vega w/ Joe Jackson
3. Get To Know Ya - Jesse Johnson
4. Do Wot You Do - INXS
5. Pretty In Pink - The Psychedelic Furs
6. Shell-Shock - New Order
7. Round, Round - Belouis Some
8. Wouldn't It Be Good - Danny Hutton Hitters
9. Bring On The Dancing Horses - Echo & The Bunnymen
10. Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want - The Smiths

The album was listed among "Best Movie Soundtracks: The 15 Film Music Compilations That'll Change Your Life" in The Huffington Post, and "The 25 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time" in Rolling Stone.

Incredible soundtrack. Left of Center is such an underrated song. I never understood why Nik Kershaw’s version of his song wasn’t on the soundtrack. It’s great.

For 80s alternative music, probably, although the cover of the Nik Kershaw tune is pretty weak.

The best soundtrack of the 1980's top to bottom was this one.

And I will die on that hill...

Ok. Top to bottom, what 80's soundtacks is better? It's sure not pretty in pink, and I love 80's synthpop music...

My supposition is: I will concede that there are other soundtracks from the 80's that have better and more popular individual songs. But as a whole body of work, RepoMan stays true to it's roots and is the most consistent staying within it's genera. Just because other songs were more popular, don't mean they were "better".

Not in 1,000,000 years. It's not even the best bratpack soundtrack. That honor belongs to the Breakfast club.

To me, Don't Your Forget About Me off breakfast club is the quintessential 80s song and >>>> Don't Leave Now.

Do Wot You Want by INXS could have been such a good song but it was unfinished. They never wrote a 2nd verse for it.
