One hit wonders who deserved better

Name some bands or other artists that only had 1 big U.S. hit that should have had more hit singles.
I'll start out with the Crash Test Dummies. They had a few songs that were as good or better than "mmm mmm mmm".
"Afternoons and Coffee Spoons" as well as "I think I'll Disappear Now" being two examples.

War- "Low Rider" is their one hit ( I guess Spill the Wine is up there) but they have a ton of great funk

This might be kind of random, but I'll say Spacehog.
They weren't groundbreaking by any means, but they had some pretty catchy tunes beyond "In The Meantime".

Ok. Low Rider is their only song to get consistent radio play (other than the aforementioned Spill the Wine, which is still a general rarity on FM stations)

Totally agree with this. And to bring it around, check out The Tender Trio. They only had one album, but it was Royston from Spacehog, Rogers Stevens from Blind Melon, and Rene Lopez from Extra Virgin.

Blind Melon certainly, but how about Lou Bega?
He had a great mix of hip/hop and New Orleans jazz/swing that could have been a gold mine. It's suprising to me how well "Mambo #5" has held up as a single.

Dexy's and Blind Melon were mine. Also, Chumbawumba. How often does a socialist punk/folk collective break into the mainstream? They did some great stuff.
