This is such a lovely song. But I'm not sure I can separate it from the video now.
To each his own but I'd rather not see it. Don't mind the ladies going at it. Because I like ladies. And yes I can live with that contradiction.
I wonder if straight ladies are as put off by girl on girl as straight men are put off watching dudes? I like to think not.

quote:Well he wrote this song back in 2016, maybe earlier. There are videos of him playing acoustically in 2016. So you do respect him for doing gay shite.
I'd respect it of he was doing all this gay shite back in '16 and '17 but now he wants to start pushing his politics after the media and government are trying to force it down everyone's throats. Tyler is a beta sheep that can sing exceptionally and tell a story as good as anyone.

The spectrum is different for women and men. Mars and Venus and all that. Basically for a man to be gay he just has to sneeze funny or wear a pink shirt once. For a woman to truly be a lesbian she has to run a dragline at a gravel pit for a living or be a long haul truck driver

Hey if you're mad about this stuff at least he will decide in 5 years he won't play those songs anymore for whatever reason

Is that the video with the gay miners making out?
Very underrepresented group in today's climate.

Isn’t it weird how democrats are so obsessed with turning miners gay

If this song was released on either of his first two albums it would easily be the worst on both.
Tyler is quickly using up the credit he built. First his shitty fiddle playing social commentary album, then his pseudo 7 song gospel album with 3 versions of the same song. Hopefully this is the worst song on the new album.

With who?
His tour this spring soldout instantly pretty much everywhere.

This is the best he could do after all this time?
All this time? He’s still touring for his last album that he released less than a year ago.

But it’ll be praised because Tyler has dudes kissing in the video. Props to him he figured out the cheat code.
People have been praising this song since he performed it at Bonaroo and had zero gay men kissing at that performance. It’s a genuinely good song.

Yeah I get that. Lady May, All Your’n, and Shake the Frost are all much better songs than this.
All Your'n is a high mark. It's flawless.

He’s more popular than ever and it has nothing to do with politics.

Take My Hounds to Heaven is a damn good song. Better when he performs live and on coke but still good otherwise.
Angel Band and Way of the Triune God are damn good and I like his version of Old Country Church better than Hank’s. The others yeah I agree. Kinda meh.

Rusting in the Rain
Preview of at least one of the songs on the album for those that haven’t heard it.
Just saw a live version of this on YT from 2023 and it doesn’t sound like he’s changed it much since whenever this was recorded.
He’s had a lot of good songs stored up for a while. Hopefully we get some more of them on the album.
Jersey Giant
Messed Up Kid
Redneck Romeo
Space and Time (cover)

I really like hounds, angel band, and triune.
Not a big fan of his old country church cover.
And I don’t weigh his politics at all when I say he’s using up his credit. He built a loyal following off of his early unreleased music and then released one all time great album and another solid one.
Since then he’s cut songs out of setlists that upset quite a few people. And he’s not ever releasing jersey giant or messed up kid.
So now we get the last two albums and this EP with more covers?! I’m frustrated because he is so fricking talented. But he’s an artist so he can do whatever the frick he wants.

So does a bunch of other artist that this board claims is horrible music and beneath them
so tell my music plebe self if selling tickets matters or not?

It’s not really up for debate. He is more popular than ever.
In 2019 he had 3.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Today he’s sitting at 9.1 million

You will get slammed for this opinion, but I agree. Music today is totally what have you done for me lately. And take my hounds didn’t really resonate with AVERAGE Childers fans. I’m not taking about the hardcore ppl on this board but the everyday fans who found him after feathered Indians. I texted a few buds who I knew liked (or claimed to) Childers after the video and they all quit following him except for the red barn/purgatory stuff. But i get it. As a somgwriter some times your viewpoint changes as you get older or clean or family or whatever. But look back at history of music and you’ll realize all the best music came from drunk addicts with alot of pain or depression in their lives.

I mean people are upset about him not playing Whitehouse Road anymore but he’s a recovering addict. And wants to move on from that.
If folks don’t like the newer stuff, then fine. But I think it’s silly to claim he’s leaving his “original” fans behind when he’s obviously doing some of these things as part of his recovery. And living a happier, healthier life.
