Really into speed metal and loving old Slayer and Metallica. Anyone have some good bands to recommend NOT named Megadeath or Anthrax?
Also don’t like any of that Cookie Monster singer BS
Just good ole mosh pit speed metal

I'm assuming you simply overlooked/failed to mention Testament ...

Try the band Iced Earth.

Iced Earth is a good mix between heaviness of Slayer and Metallica with markedly better vocals than both (depending on which vocalist/album you're on) and less guitar solos.
Their sound is probably best defined by the albums Something Wicked This Way Comes or Night of the Stormrider. They are underrated and amazing. One of my favorites. Matt Barlow is arguably one of, if not the, greatest metal vocalists of all time.
Testament also a good choice - very era appropriate.
Symphony X may be too progressive but they have really good riffage, vocals, and solos.
Tremonti (band) can also fall into the 80s metal sound sometimes if you're willing to go a a little away from that genre.

To me, Testament is the second best thrash metal band (Metallica being first).

Death Angel is amazing. Act III is a fantastic album. Every song is killer.

All the above mentioned bands are great thrash. I’ll throw in a recommendation for a band that’s more of a heavy/speed metal band.
Enforcer - from Sweden. Undying Evil is a good one. Have more in common with NWOBHM sounding bands. But fast and heavy nonetheless.

Exodus
Death Angel
Flotsam and Jetsam
Dark Angel
Metal Church
Overkill
Nuclear Assault
Forbidden
Vio-lence
Heathen
Annihilator
Voivod
Sepultura
Suicidal Tendencies
Testament
Morbid Saint
Razor
All are classic thrash and/or thrash-infused bands. All kick arse.
I’m not going to mention any German thrash because your remark about “cookie monster singer BS” implies that you might not be able to handle the heavier stuff. But, if you’re willing to broaden your horizons then also check out Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, and Tankard.

I can't say enough about Death Angel. I finally got to see them open for Slayer about 3 or 4 years ago. It was Slayer/Anthrax/Death Angel. Death Angel was just incredible. Completely blew Anthrax off the stage. Not Slayer though.

Really into speed metal
Released in 1982, some say this is the original speed metal song...
Accept — Fast As A Shark
Album is Restless And Wild. Fantastic shite. Lars has definitely named them as one of Metallica’s early influences.

Listen to Dissection's album "storm of the lights bane".
It's not speed, but its essential metal at a fast pace if you haven't heard it.

Coming in here to post this as well.
They also have a new album coming out soon.
Their most recent is fantastic, as well as ACT3 and my favorite, Relentless Retribution.
You are welcome!

What’s up my ATL younger brotha???
Yeah I saw Power Trip open for Cannibal Corpse a couple of years ago and they kicked some serious arse. Would love to see them headlining in a club.
For the OP, here’s another really good one to check out. Young current band that is very much a pure thrash band. Good shite here...

Man I caught that same tour in Indy but it was a work day so by the time I got back to the hotel and ubered to the venue Death Angel had already played. Still bummed about that. Was actually my first time getting to see Slayer though and holy shite they were incredible.
