That article is pretty weak, but I totally agree that the Mumford/Lumineers genre is terrible.

Just to be clear, Huckleberry and me don't like Lumineers or that "Home" song.
Monsters and Men good doe.

I'm not particularly fond of Mumford and sons but I enjoy a good bit of the roots revival.
Edwarde Sharpe
The Decemberists
Old Crow Medicine Show
Of Monsters and Men
All of them have good/great tunes in their catalog

I liked Mumford at first, but it just got so repetitive so quickly.
And fwiw, OCMS is on a different level than any of the other bands being mentioned in this thread. It's a shame that most people know Wagon Wheel and that's it.

The only problem I have with the roots revival is its getting entirely too over saturated. Too many mediocre to bad bands are muddying the water

just curious...what is y'all's take on the Avett Bros? Personally, I am a big fan and have been for years. I'm just curious as to whether folks have lumped them into this group of bands.

No, they aren't in that group.

Blah blah blah.
These guys are so weak and unoriginal. Now I'm going to go rock out to some of my The Postal Service albums.

The fact that this guy likes them is about the only reason they aren't in that group for him.
They are just like these other bands in terms of genre.
I like Of Monsters and Men, like Mumford (would have rather seen them about 2 years ago than pay $60 to see them now), I liked Civil Wars too, enjoy Lumineers.
I actually dig this genre quite a bit.
