Do you remember Billy Pendleton and Earth? Similar bands. Bill Wray used to play at the CYO dances years ago.

My good friend played bass in that band. He went by the name E. Ray Sorehead.

Here is an interview I did with Gino and Hans of US Times on KLSU back in the mid to late 80's.
One of the best bands to come from BR. Whatever became of Gino? The bass player's son is a relatively famous actor named Shane West.

The Models used to play around Baton Rouge quite a bit, and were a pretty good band.

Both still alive but on life support. I'll be seeing the Rads in January all 3 nights of their anniversary run.

College Meets Jefferson
As Cities Burn (Pretty good band around 2003-2006 from Mandeville. Really cool guys.)
Nova (Quite possibly the best band from BR that never signed. Three badass musicians that just liked to jam. Similar to Explosions In The Sky.)
Hollywood Blues

They were damned good. One of the booking agencies Bill used was Kingsland in W Monroe, which was also one of our bookers.
That stated, I am a bit partial to the "The Blue Riders Band" out of Monroe. Played shows around the state. I was their keyboard player. Hated to see it end.
Out of BR I remember Whiskey River. Co-lead singer reminded me of Cass Elliot but with a more powerful voice.
Another band. The Bare Facts, recorded a single back in the late 60's called "Pain" which got a lot of radio play in Louisiana.
While they recorded at a now defunct studio somewhere around Minden that was also back in the day when a lot of radio stations shut down around midnight. Upon signing off, some band would pay for time and go in to record at a number of those stations. The old Floyd's Record Shop also had a studio frequented by many back in the day.
P.S. 60's are not that old. lol

My Dad was a musician from Monroe. Worked for Kingsland as well.

Multiple Places out of NO. I know they released one album ‘Duncan’ named in honor of the lead singer not long after he committed suicide.

West Without - hipster indie pop act in BR that opened for Panic at their infamous concert/stampede at Blue Bayou. Rumor is they were offered a nice record deal, but the lead singer freaked out and the band broke up instead, sad.
I think there were a lot of factors in it. She I don't think was ever was ever fully committed to the band concept, and preferred solo work(which I think she's still doing). Around the time they broke apart/she left, her boyfriend was a med student who ended up matching out of state to a place not as conducive to the band following(7 year residency as well), which I think gave another impetus to the break up . I have no idea if they're still together or if that ever worked out.
ETA: I should say they went on to do a lot without her and even released new music but I don't think they received the same label interest without her
