Just my personal feelings, but those hindrances you listed are the ones fact reason I appreciate what the human mind and body creates. Those hindrances make the performance.

I find those who are most in favor of using musical AI tend to be the less talented amongst us. I see it in the studio all the time.

I’ll try another approach.

In the studio I see a common thread almost weekly.

The lesser musicians, those who are either younger and havent had time to develop their own skills either because they’re young or lazy or simply not talented, prefer to use AI. In all honesty, they don’t have a choice.

Skilled musicians prefer to play and record the parts themselves.

Again, it’s not about instrumentation. Instruments have advanced since the beginning of modern music, but at the end of the day someone still has to perform on them manually. AI is NOT an instrument, regardless of what some may think.

Hell, it’s like when DJ’s suddenly became musicians because they could pull a sample and remix it.

Of course AI is not an instrument but it is a tool that can be used to enhance your music.

Musicians can play their instrument but they can't do everything to create a finished version of a song.

They can put something on a loop or put a drum track on their music but they need a machine to do that.

Using a female voice when you are a male or having an orchestra back you are just two examples of things that create the final sound of a song which musicians can't do on their own.

As the old TV commercial said, "Try it, you'll like it.".

I’ve not only tried it, I have to use it every single week for rap “artist” who aren’t musicians and need the cheapest way of building a “beat”.

Again, I don’t have any issues with artists using it to produce demos for their own material. I simply prefer the music I listen to personally to have been written, arranged and performed by humans.

I also prefer listening to music that is completely written, arranged and performed by humans but that doesn't mean I can't also enjoy listening to AI music.

At least AI music is more enjoyable to listen to than rap music or what I call crap music.

A civil discussion about AI in music is like having a civil discussion about murderers slitting your mother’s throat in front of your face. AI music is insulting, insufferable, disgusting, and immoral by its very nature.

oooh, that'll get 'em! Looks like we have a verified '80s edgelord on our hands!

I still stand by my thesis from page 2.

I take that as a compliment even though I don't know what that means.

The only positive I see A-I bringing to music is cleaning up mono and live recordings.

Otherwise it's the same as auto tuning or artists playing recordings at concerts: it's a fraud.

How about you het some actual talent and write songs without using AI

My brother is the one with the musical talent not me. He has been playing the guitar and writing his own songs for over 60 years.

We used AI to embellish many of his songs using his lyrics and a few AI songs contained my poems as lyrics.

The AI versions of his songs contained his melodies as the spine of the songs or else we would have rejected them and tried again until it sounded the way we wanted them to sound.

However, we were pleasantly surprised when the AI versions of his songs turned out to be even better than we expected them to be.

BTW, if you are a musician have you ever tried to get a bunch of musicians and singers together to work on your songs and noticed how difficult it is to do?

It's not a fraud when people are made aware from the beginning that AI was used to embellish the songs.

It's not anything like the fraud committed by Milli Vanilli and other bands who pretended to be singing or playing their instruments live.

Not at all.

It’s actually very satisfying when other real musicians bring their talents and emotions to your tunes via their instruments/voices and you watch it morph into something glorious.

That’s what you’ll never get from a robot. Real people pouring their souls into something they believe in and have lived. Real ART.

This can be true if you are lucky enough to play with some musicians that have similar ideas and tastes to your own. The kind of pickers that grew up on the same music as you and you all know the direction that things need to go.
Years ago I had guys like that, it was always awesome to play with them. Things just worked.
I don't have people like that anymore, and picking sessions are usually disappointing. Our backgrounds are too different.

I'm not talking about just jamming with some musicians and singers at a party.

If you are lucky enough to know a bunch of musicians and singers in the first place then it takes a lot of time and effort to contact all of them and coordinate everyone's schedule so they can all get together at the same time and place.

Of course it is satisfying when you do get a bunch of musicians and singers together and you produce some good music but it isn't easy to get them together.

It may be "Real ART" but what is just as satisfying is when you can create a finished song using AI that people enjoy listening to.

Just my 2 cents.
I think it is fun to listen to an AI cover of a song in a completely different genre.
But to have AI create a song and put it out there for income, I don't like. When this starts to happen, don't you think studios big and small will just start churning out music and throw the actual musicians to the curb? If studios, producers can just make money with streaming and not deal with tours and all that involves, don't you think they would do it.
Humans need to be creative and we enjoy seeing that creativity and talent of other humans. Listening to AI will diminish how we view humans creativity and talent. Humans will stop pursuing that talent and creativity because they won't be able to compete.
We will become talentless, lack creativity, knowledge, perseverance, pursuit of skills, if we continue down this AI path where it can do everything.
We are seeing it in engineering and I don't know what the next couple generations are going to become if we go down this path of AI doing so much on our jobs, music, art, etc.
I'll step off the soap box now.

It sounds like you agree with what portrait artists said about the camera after it was invented.

Maybe so. Maybe people will chose to listen to real artist music instead of a machine creating the music. Just like may chose to watch real actors instead of AI created actors. I guess the public will have to chose.
But the machine of big music will push towards the quick, fast, and lucrative music production of AI if it makes them more money. Thus squeezing out the real talent.
