There are plenty of independent, DIY labels.

DIY labels are part of the music industry.

I love people who THINK they know what they are talking about yet almost everything they say proves that premise to be false.

No.

This is a bad faith argument, as you are using "music industry" to mean artists/musicians. And yes, musical artists should make the music, not the copyright infringement machine cobbling together familiar sounds.

There is plenty of good music made by people to pay one second of interest to AI music...

Your comparison to photography isn't even remotely the same...

a civil discussion
Would involve you starting your own forum.

Because your threads seem to always end heated.

And then you could go back to a new thread for whatever song your pushing. And people would still be let down when the Dawglovertoo proved to be something else artificial..... win-win.

You are incorrect. By "music industry" I mean the people who run the music industry who make the final decision what music they will produce and promote.

Can you give an example of someone whose talent or music was infringed by AI?

BTW, have you even ever listened to a song that was the product of AI?

In all of my threads I have tried to be civil but people like you come in and post their insulting nonsense. Produce one of my threads where I was the person who first began flinging insults.

If you don't want to engage in a civil discussion with me then don't post in any of my threads.

Do you mean the good music made by people using Autotune and other things that artificially enhance their music?

My comparison to cameras and photography is dead on.

Musicians and those who produce the music are worried they will be financially damaged by AI.

Just create and produce good music and the sound will take people away.

I know good music when I hear it whether or not it is produced by AI.

I’ve spent over 35 years working on my craft with my instrument. It’s real! It’s my fingers hitting the strings and it’s organic. A computer can’t replace that. It’s fake. It will never produce that slam that comes out of my bass cabinet. You can feel it. I can feel it on my back when I play. Nothing can replicate that.

So you typed something in a prompt and got some shite back. Play it through a PA at a concert hall and see what response you get. People want real!

Are you not familiar with how generative AI works?

My bad. This is a bad faith argument because you're arguing something that hasn't been true in 20 years, to the extent it ever was (one could always look deeper and past what's popular or what's on the radio). The internet had already democratized who can record and release music. If you're only paying attention to what major labels produce and promote, then you are severely limiting the amount and variety of music you expose yourself to. And you're apparently using that as an excuse to seek and prompt music made from an algorithm.

You can listen to whatever you want, but most people enjoy art knowing that humans created it. And most artists are artists because they want to create. Prompting and then re-promoting isn't writing or creating, just as lesrning how to speak more directly to your labor force isn't performing the labor. Pasting something made for you, whole, and then tweaking that whole is not rigorously editing and refining. So, prompt and enjoy what you want, but you're kidding yourself into believing this is a "tool."

No, it is not. What a camera does and what a portrait painter does are two completely different things. You can look at a painting and at a camera picture, even if they are of the exact same subject, and know instantly which is which. For your comparison to work, the painter would need to start using a camera to take photos of his subjects and then telling people, "Hey, look at these incredible pictures I painted!"

They don't. I can create music on my own.

you can tell a song is AI almost instantly…the compression/flatness of the instruments, the lyric/writing structure, the singing cadence. It all just sounds off and weird

AI could be used to help you craft final versions of lyrics you’re writing, or give you a sample/demo of a song in your head, but it should never be used end to end and posted as a completed song

Here's an example of an AI song my brother and I created that is just as good as songs produced by the music industry.

It's called "Maze of Madness" and is about living a full life in spite of the ups and downs and the twists and turns.

Here's the link to the song.

Maze of Madness

Amazing.

You know, could you ask that AI to do a song about the poster "Kafka" on Tigerdroppings in a power pop sound then post it?

Of course you can create music on your own but I bet you don't have the money, time or people to create a high quality finished version of your music like you can get using AI.

You and your brother can't get a "high quality version" of your music you like using AI.

You must have a better ear than me because the musical instruments sound fine to me.

As far as the lyrics/writing, my brother and I used our own lyrics in a lot of the songs and we can edit the lyrics/writing AI creates so that the song says what we want it to say.

In a few spots the cadence may be off a little but for the most part the cadence has been excellent.

Since I am not trying to make money from the songs and am letting people hear the songs for free it doesn't matter to me if the cadence is off a little.

In my song, "Day at the White House" when I used "MSNOW" AI pronounced it "M SNOW" so I changed it to "MSNBC". That solved the problem.

That's incorrect.

Here's the link to the AI version of a song my brother wrote the lyrics to and worked on the arrangement. It is called , "Morning Sun" and the AI version is a much higher quality version than my brother and I could make on our own.

Morning Sun
