I think AI is an excellent tool for songwriters and poets to use to get a finished version of their song without having to spend a lot of time and money to find musicians who will work on the song as well as music producers who will produce the song.

On the other hand, I understand why musicians and music producers don't like AI music. It will be similar to what happened to portrait artists after the camera and photography were invented. Portrait artists were financially damaged and many of them went out of business.

However, I think AI music is here to stay and here's an example why. As a musician and songwriter my brother came up with the song he called "Wherever I'm Standing They're Looking the Other Way Blues". He put it through AI then tweaked what AI came up with until he got what he wanted the song to sound like.

The song is about a lonely single guy who no matter what he does or where he goes he is ignored by women.

Here's the link to the song. After the page opens wait a few seconds and the play button will appear at the bottom of the page.

Wherever I'm Standing They're Looking the Other Way Blues

Im not interested in music that has AI contributions, personally... If I know in advance, I won't listen to one second of it... That is my personal opinion on it... I dont think the bands I like would do that...

Do I see the appeal of someone using it.. yeah, I guess so... Maybe even someone fricking about and having fun with it...

I do have an issue with the companies that have used many artists work to train their AI, without compensating them...

Why are you refusing to even listen to music that has some AI contribution?

Did artists feel the same way as you when cameras were invented and first came into use?

If some music is pleasurable and enjoyable to listen to what difference does it make who or what contributed to the creation of the music?

Are you in favor of the music industry having a monopoly on who can create pleasurable and enjoyable music?

Listen to what you want. To me, it’s garbage and offensive.

AI is not meant to be the tool. The telos is to replace. Once you understand that, you understand that humans are the tool.

Now cgrand, try to have a CIVIL discussion about the subject of AI music instead of flinging an insult.

If you don't think the music industry has had a monopoly over whose songs and music get produced then point out to me where a songwriter, poet or a musician could go to get their music produced besides going to the music industry?

There is no ethical use of AI in music because it's all been trained on original works without compensation to the artist.

frick AI

There are plenty of independent, DIY labels.

I disagree.

According to Google the definition of "tool" is, "A tool is a physical device, digital program, or abstract means used to perform a task, achieve a goal, or facilitate work.

Physical and Digital Meanings

Handheld Implement: A physical object held in the hand—such as a hammer, saw, or screwdriver—used to make, fix, or shape things.

Professional Equipment: The necessary gear, items, or skills required for a specific profession or trade (e.g., "the tools of the trade").

Computer Software: A program, feature, or digital utility used to control a function or complete a task on a computer.

A Means to an End: Anything abstract used to accomplish a purpose, such as education being a tool for success."

AI is not an abstract used to accomplish a purpose.

AI is a tool that songwriters, poets and musicians can use to accomplish the purpose of producing a professional quality final version of their words or music.

DIY labels are part of the music industry.

If it can be proven that a particular artist's work has been used by AI without compensation to the artist then the artist should be compensated.

I remember when people could go to a website (sorry but I forget the name) and download thousands of songs for free. When the musicians began to complain the website was not allowed to do that.

The solution to those in the music industry who hate AI is simple.

Produce music that is better than the music AI produces.

Here's an example of an AI song my brother and I created that is just as good as songs produced by the music industry.

It's called "Maze of Madness" and is about living a full life in spite of the ups and downs and the twists and turns.

Here's the link to the song.

Here's another example of a song my brother and I created using AI.

All the lyrics were written by my brother. The melody is very close to the original melody he composed.

The song is called, "Space Brothers of the Universe".

Here's the link to the song.

Did the person who gave "Space Brothers of the Universe" a down vote even bother to listen to it?
