Paul, Jeff Lynn and Ringo were all for doing it. George nixed it.

Loved it. Also, it's 12 minutes long but Peter Jackson released a short film about the song today as well.

It's a must watch when you have the time:

"Free As a Bird" never felt much like a Beatles tune to me. Something is just off in that song
its john's vocal. he sounds like a ghost. i agree that its very off-putting

evidently "now and then" benefits from today's technology in fixing that problem

Never really got into the Beatles.
Of course I like some of their music.

although I'm not a fan of AI, at least they did a nice job of cleaning it up.

I just read that it was literally recorded off a Realistic cassette push player.

The song is ok, but what really popped was Lennon's voice being so clear.

It makes me want them to go back and clean up John's vocals on Free As A Bird and Real Love.

Real Love
I think it's better than Free as a Bird, but it really rarely gets mentioned.

Real Love is a great song. I thought this new one was weak.

It's ok. Not a fan of Lennon's whiney voice. He was the least talented Beatle

You should listen to his vocal performance on “Mr. Moonlight”. He starts the song without any musical instruments to help him find the right note and he nails it. They played this song live quite a lot in the early days of 1962-1964.
YouTube has a video of the recording with isolated vocals that’s really amazing. LINK

Real Love is a fantastic song.

This release today is so nostalgic to this Gen Xer who grew up listening to them as solo artists and discovered their "band" in the 80s.

Hearing a song written by Lennon a few years before his tragic death that the other three worked on in the 90s before George's untimely death, then the two survivors finish it up 47 years after he wrote it....well, it gives me chills.

The song is good, not great, but to get a song from the GOATs given the circumstances is like finding a never-delivered speech handwritten by Lincoln.

I also want to point out: one of our own posters, BigOrangeBri, has a great song titled "Every Now And Then" that I like better.
I want him to get a good demo done soon, because I really like that song, and how he does it.

I'm tellin yall, there are some talented folks on this board.

Really good song. Sucks that it's the last one. Hard to think of a more talent group of 4 guys.

Thanks for the video. Was really well done.

I had no idea they were even working on this. It's just impossible to overstate how they changed everything.
