Some things I just wish I never knew. I really need to never open the OT or poli forum ever again.

Not a fan, particularly after his tirade against GWB after the BP oil spill. Besides, the Margaritaville in Key West is way overrated.

Jimmy Buffett
I slipped into the Jimmy Buffett vortex in about '79, '80. I didn't know anyone else even made music during the 80s and 90s.
Actually, it was radiomargaritaville that turned me on to other artists I now enjoy (Robert Earl Keen, Steve Earle, the Subdudes).
I found 3 CDs from the 90's as enjoyable as any:
Bannana Wind, Barometer Soup, Fruitcakes.
and Christmas in the Carribean is worth it during December.

Hell yeah. Still my favorite Christmas album.

Don't enjoy much of the greatest hits except Pirate Looks at 40 and Grapefruit-Juicy Fruit
However, some more-obscure tunes I can appreciate in the right mood:
Banana Republics (Goodman)
Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season
Last Mango In Paris
Tin Cup Chalice
Coast of Carolina
Death of an Unpopular Poet
They Don't Dance Like Carmen No More
Biloxi

I thought "Take the Weather With You" was a good album as far as his recent albums are concerned.

He is a great songwriter, especially his older work, and he surrounds himself with great songwriters. Listening to Jimmy and/or Radio Margaritaville turned me on to Zachary Richard, Jesse Winchester, John Hyatt and several others.
As someone else said, Mac doesn't get near enough mainstream credit for the music and songs he contributes (although Nashville has recently started to include him in the best muscian category and he is in the songwriters hall of fame).
The good Buffett songs are the ones with a good underlying meaning or a story to tell - Pirate Looks @ 40, Prince of Tides, Take It Back; or the songs from other writers that talk about the northern Gulf Coast - When the Coast Is Clear (Mac), Biloxi (Winchester), Stars On The Water (Crowell).

Shitty rappers everywhere should take a long hard look at Buffet's uncanny ability to market and sell complete garbage

just like parrotheads, goofy!
I think I'd be ok going the rest of my life without hearing his songs. The only one I can closely stomach is Son of Sailor. But I want to drop kick kittens when I here Cheeseburgers, Come Monday, or Margaritaville.

Thats the beauty of being a left-winger... only really have to hate Ted Nugent, which is very easy!!
I saw JB at the pete maravich assembly center in the early 90s. was strange listening to that and not being able to buy alcohol.
