How do ya'll feel about him? I love him, especially his earlier stuff. Thought I would ask because I hardly ever see him mentioned.

I love his old music when at the beach or camp. I have zero respect for his newfound foray into all that he railed against for the first 30 years of his career.

Also, from firsthand accounts I've heard from people in Nashville, he is apparently one of the biggest assholes you will ever meet.

The Night I Painted the Sky is one of my favorite ballads of all time. One thing that does kind of bother me with Buffett is that a lot of people don't give Mac McAnally the credit he deserves as a songwriter and performer in the Coral Reefer Band.

He and Billy Corgan made the same mistake. If you rail against all of the evils of the music industry for the peak of your career, don't try to revive it by embracing all of those evils. It just makes you the worst kind of sellout.

Buffett is like that rare trip to Wendy's for the Baconator that makes you feel all guilty inside. You know you can do much better but you can't help but love it so hard.

Seriously, the tailgating before his concerts is the best thing ever. So much fun. People have weird drinking games and contests and food. Just a really fun time, overall.

And yeah, he's an a-hole. My friend saw him when she was in her teens and he wouldn't give her an autograph or a pic with him.

I don't find a damn thing wrong with Buffett other than his corny jokes sometimes on stage. He had some great songs back in the day. Pirate Looks at 40 is an all-timer and Coast of Carolina is one of my favorites.

It has sorta become cool to hate on him for some reason but you have to give the guy credit. He found a niche. He became an industry. And he really sets a mood for when I'm headed south to do some fishing.

Great to listen to at the beach or on a boat. Not something I listen to while driving around.

His music isn't quite as atrocious as his personality.

I really love about 5-7 songs. Don't really care about the rest. Do not understand there being a Buffet channel on Sirius. Some of his covers are painful to hear. Live versions of his songs? Why?

If you never heard Death of an Unpopular Poet, I highly recommend it.

Well he is an open Obama supporter and blames Bush for the BP spill on the beaches for one.

BUT like you said, he figured out a way to "sell" the beach lifestyle.

I like his music, can't stand his politics or the way he carries himself.

If I had to like the politics of the music artists I like, I'd probably have to throw out over 90% of my collection Including DTBs...the assholes.
