Jack White just added some tour dates for fall, including Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport Sept 15. Tickets on sale Friday, June 22. Shreveport Times

It does not look like he is stopping anywhere else in Louisiana. Other regional stops are Tulsa, Lubbock, El Paso. Fall tour dates

Last time he was here, they begged people to put away their phones; photos were taken and could be downloaded from his site. It was futile.

This time it is billed as phone free.

quote:

"This will be a "phone-free show," according to Ticketmaster.com. Upon arrival at the venue, all phones will be secured in a Yondr pouch that will be unlocked at the end of the show.

I read that the pouch can be opened in certain zones such as out on the concourse if you simply must talk to the sitter or Snapchat grandma.

Rolling Stone article on Yondr pouches

I would think a no phone policy has a lot to do with the venue rather than the artist just trying to sell pictures and stuff. I would hope that anyway. Wasn't sure if that's why they wanted people to put phones away or if it was kinda ruining the show. Which they do sometimes.

This makes me almost want to drive to Shreveport to check it out. Last few concerts I've been to I was sitting right next to that person that wanted to video their favorite song with the flash on. From the cheap seats. Your flash isn't doing anything but pissing me off lady.

Rant over.

Has nothing to do with the venue and im pretty sure jack white isnt trying to make a few bucks off pictures from his show. Agree or disagree with him, he obviously thinks all the phones at shows are ruining peoples times.

Ive never been to a show with the phone pouches, i do like to take a pic or 2 during a show, but id like to see what its all about.

The pictures on his site are free so he's not trying to make money off of them.

Most venues have pretty standard policies for what you can bring in but this is a policy above and beyond that. He's doing this on every show this tour.

I saw him there in 14 and it was a great show. I was on the floor and I noticed a lot fewer phones out in general.

It has everything to do with the band. APC and The Misfits have the same policy. APC throws people out all the time for taking pics.

This won't be enforced at Voodoo, but atleast if you are by annoying people you can always move to somewhere else.

i don't think he cares about the rights to pics ... who is selling a picture from the Jack White concert in SPort ? or buying for that matter?

... it's more about the disruption that it creates across the board. It has gotten out of hand and takes away from the experience of attending a live show.

Correct. I went to his show in Houston a few weeks back and it was phone free. I didn’t even take mine in. He said is was for everyone to “disconnect” and feel the music with your friends. Also didn’t want distractions to other people

Had several areas where they would unlock your phone if you needed it. But you couldn’t leave that area until your phone was locked.

It was possible to sneak your phone in. But only saw one or two people that did so. Overall it was fine...the show was awesome

I like this idea and hoe more artists start doing this. I hate going to concerts and some idiot in front of me wants to hold his phone up to get video of his favorite song, let alone the whole show, all while blocking my view and others around me..

And they won't watch it more than once, if that.

It's not about watching it. It's about posting it to the Book o' Faces so that everyone knows they were there. It's just a 21st century form of bragging.

Saw him in Dallas recently and agree, you barely notice. He wants everyone to enjoy the experience together.

I will say, though, the show I went to was GA so it was a little tricky when Mrs. White went to the restroom. She isn't the tallest but we didn't have any huge issues meeting up.

It was an awesome show.

ETA: Now that I think about it, I never even went to check this pics on his website

I don't have a subscription to Third Man's vault however I should have a presale code soon from another source. That code should work tomorrow morning at 10:00am. If/when I receive it, I'll post it.

I remember they did this at a Kevin Hart show at the Superdome a few years ago. Never been to a show myself that was "no phone"

Saw Jack White a few years ago at the Saenger in Nola and it was incredible. Right after Lazaretto came out
