INXS

It's mainly because my wife is in love with him, even though he be dead.

It's a fantastic song. Almost perfect production on the recording.

It would have been nice if they had actually hired live strings. Just a small section would have added a lot of depth.

That's exactly why it's "almost" perfect.
It had the basic elements of great stuff though.
Like Righteous Brothers meets Dwight Yokem, old Soul, and early R.E.M..
Lyrically Damn solid too.

I think "I'd make wine from your tears" is pretty bad.. and may belong in that other thread..

But.... I do like the song overall

It was always mine, too. Of course, as a teenaged girl it did not hurt that Michael was at the height of his moody, Morrisonian hotness in the video and MTV played it a LOT.

I don't think it's that bad myself, heard a lot worse. Hell I've written and recorded a lot worse.

Great song.

At the time, I thought Hutchence was just a pretty boy, but time and a lot of really bad popular vocalists to contrast with have really made me appreciate just how great he was. Their early stuff was fascinating, but Kick was as solid an album start to finish as I've heard.

I wouldn't want to hate any INXS song. They were a good band.

There’s a great lyric in there for our transgender community:

Cuz we all have wangs
But some of us, don’t know why-I-I-I-I-I-I

I thought that part was about going to Hooters.

INXS was an awesome band. One of the underrated gems of the 80’s.

Yeah it's a good song.

Michael Hutchence is probably in the top 5 front men in rock music.
