Well, if this is really your opinion, then yes, you're wrong. Yes, a lot, maybe even most, pop music is pretty bad, but the same can be said for pop music 20, 30, 40, and 50 years ago.

I don’t stick to any one genre. But there are very few acts in the world that can pull of what Taylor is currently doing regardless of Genre.

They are, the same old heads complaining that music is dead are just too lazy to seek out any new music or are stuck in the past. Same as it’s always been, older generations act like their generation their music is the GOAT and anything after that is trash

The best songwriters and performers usually are. You don’t get into serious songwriting or stage performing as a career because you require an average amount of love and attention to be happy. You pretty much have to have something seriously broken inside to want or need that life and/or have the drive to continuously pour the amount of real emotion that it takes to pump out song after song after song.

These are the songwriters I grew up listening to.
Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, Paul Simon, Pete Townsend, Roger Waters, Stevie Wonder, Lennon-McCartney, Jagger-Richards, Plant-Page, George Harrison, Henley-Frey, Brian Wilson, John Fogerty, Sting, Joe Strummer, Jackson Browne, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Elton John-Bernie Taupin, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, Prince, Ray Davies, Townes Van Zant, Jimmy Webb, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Marley, Jim Morrison, Van Morrison, Kris Kristopherson and that is not even mentioning ZZ Top, Queen, Van Halen, AC/DC, The Ramones, U2, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Marvin Gaye, anyone involved with Stax, James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, anyone else involved in funk and David Bowie.
Your turn hotshot. Tell me what your fricking music generation has produced.

You're so lame. So what year was it when talented songwriters and performers suddenly became extinct?
Posted on 5/16/23 at 1:57 pm to Mo Jeaux
There's a handful still around.

I mean... I get that people think she's some teeny bopper shite... but (assuming she actually writes her lyrics) she can write a song. I could post up a ton of quality singer/songwriter material, but I like "Invisible String." All of the album Folklore is pretty solid.

Green was the color of the grass
Where I used to read at Centennial Park
I used to think I would meet somebody there
Teal was the color of your shirt
When you were sixteen at the yogurt shop
You used to work at to make a little money
Time, curious time
Gave me no compasses, gave me no signs
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh
Bad was the blood of the song in the cab
On your first trip to LA
You ate at my favorite spot for dinner
Bold was the waitress on our three year trip
Getting lunch down by the lakes
She said I looked like an American singer
Time, mystical time
Cuttin' me open, then healin' me fine
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh
A string that pulled me
Out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar
Something wrapped all of my past mistakes in barbed wire
Chains around my demons, wool to brave the seasons
One single thread of gold tied me to you
Cold was the steel of my axe to grind
For the boys who broke my heart
Now I send their babies presents
Gold was the color of the leaves
When I showed you around Centennial Park
Hell was the journey but it brought me heaven
Time, wondrous time
Gave me the blues and then purple pink skies
And it's cool, baby, with me
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?

I’m not a huge Taylor Swift fan because I just in General don’t listen to pop music, but I acknowledge she makes really good pop music.
I mean Blank spaces is a brilliant song.
She actually writes most of her songs and when she co-writes she brings in really good co-writers, Jack Antonio, Aaron Dresser. max Martin who has written some of the biggest pop song of the last 30 years

Alice in chains is better music than Taylor Swift.
Posted on 5/16/23 at 5:36 pm to dawgfan24348
Well it is. Why is the old music so popular?
Why is Queen so popular?
Why is Elvis who has been dead for 40 years plus years still more popular than many artists that are still alive?

You're not making any sense.
You're essentially saying that pop music today is no good, even from an artist who is popular.
And to prove it, you're showing us some artists from the past who are popular, and therefore, their popularity shows that their music is good/better.
You're proving dawgfan24348's point. You just don't like any popular music from the current era.

I have listened to all types of music over the years and I'm under 40. Pop music of the past is better than pop music of today.
Yes the music and vocals of Elvis and Freddie Mercury are superior to many artists today as examples. That is why even today are still very popular.

Also in my day everything from Let Your Love Flow to That's the Way I Like It to Another One Bites the Dust to Fame to Hotel California to Superstition to Heart of Gold to Rhinestone Cowboy to We're an American Band could (and did) hit #1 on the pop chart. How many #1 pop hits have there been in the last twenty years at least that did not sound like pop hits or were not made by artists you associate with pop music? The Eagles had five songs reach #1. The fricking Steve Miller Band had three. The Doors had two. Pink Floyd even had one. No band that sounds like any of those bands would even be played on a pop station today never mind hit the top of the charts.

No one listens to the radio today, at least not young people. Its all about spotify and tiktok for them. There are people you've never heard of getting hundreds of millions of streams on spotify.

This is correct and social media platforms have given rise to acepella bands as an example that aren't mainstream. Other artists as well who make enough to do it for a living.
