Funny, I just posted this in another thread recently, but more appropriate here. I hope this Green Day "3 album tour" thing is decent, being a fan myself. Below article amusing...about "sell-out" bands, a term I despise.

Wanting to be part of your own little group is perfectly understandable; wanting the entity that brought you together to enjoy as little success as possible in life is not. I get that some of it has to do with the timeless "indie label vs. major label" debate, but plenty of bands have made the leap to a major label with perfectly legitimate results. Some have spent their entire careers on major labels. It's one thing if the band of your early-days yearning just went on to make some shitty albums. That totally happens -- Google "The Replacements" for proof.
But hating a band just because they make a little more money than they used to doesn't mean you're a "real fan," it means you're a selfish prick.

Best album they've made since Insomniac, imo. Only listened through it once but it truly sounds like it could of came from the 90's. Gone is the "punk opera" bullshite. American Idiot was a good album but nothing worth all those Grammys. Less said about 21stCB the better.

Is there anyone worse than someone that does jot him but complain about a band "selling out?". Especially when the main point of starting a band into brine insanely rich and insanely famous rock stars.

I actually think Green Day's best album is American Idiot. And I actually own Kerplunk on audio cassette. That's how long ago I was into Green Day.
American Idiot is a pop punk version of Zen Arcade. I like pop punk. I like Zen Arcade. Win win. I never understood people getting on a band that started out as scenesters in a frickin' socialist collective for making a politically charged rock album.
