My parents played a lot of jazz when I was young. I loved Kid Ory's version of "Tiger Rag".

That was the first one I recall being obsessed with.

Check this out...

No Stranger to the Rain - Reaction Video

It's pretty cool to see someone who has never heard the awesomeness of Keith Whitley, hear it for the first time.

Two songs particularly come to mind for a couple of reasons. Very different songs and very different memories.

Yesterday, the Beatles. Playing in my backyard with a neighbor when it came on. Didn’t fully comprehend what it meant. It could feel the emotion in the words and music.

King of the Road. Roger Miller. I was in a grocery store with my dad. Tune was catchy and I thought the words were fun.

Both released when I was 3, in 65. It was likely a few years later when I recall the memories, I was maybe 5 or 6 years old, but maybe not.

I still love both songs

The song that plays in my mind all the time is “brought up Texan” by Blake powers. From the moment I heard it it reminded me of dancing with my mom to James Taylor. Good times.

I was 5-6 years old driving from Ohio to Florida. My parents purposely stopped at diners so I could play “Don’t close your Eyes” Keith Whitley in every jukebox we saw which was more common to find back then. In retrospect that was damn cool of them to let me do without the assistance of a smart phone.
