Boyce & Hart were simply the bomb during the 1960's. The wrote quite a few of The Monkees' best songs, including Last Train To Clarksville, Words, I'm Not Your Stepping Stone and Valleri.
"Goodbye Baby" was my favorite of the duo's own performances. But they had a few others which were noteworthy: Out & About, I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight b/w The Ambushers (a movie theme song from 1968)!, Alice Long, with its B-side P.O. Box 9847. One of there most interesting cuts was called L.U.V. (Let Us Vote), an appeal to lower the voting age to 18. This song came out in 1968, before the general election.

odd to me that you can have this list and not include Terry Allen
he has my favorite verse in country music
She weren't no maid of cotton
An he weren't no hell-of-a-man
But they must have loved each other
Like only the lonely can
'Cause
They slow-danced through the neons
Like sorrow through a song
Then they carried the tune
To the motel room
An they played it all night long

Surprised no mention of Prince yet
I guess he’s just a great songwriter but no one’s favorite

Maynard (Tool, APC, Puscifer) will always be my top
Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra) is someone I've really honed in on lately.

Prince will never be among my list of personal favorite singer/songwriters, but one thing is for sure: his style is totally unlike anyone else.
