I think its a really cool record sonically... I think I mentioned this before, but I question how often I'll pull it out and listen to it as the years go by... It lacks any memorable hooks or singles, IMO..

I feel like the title track is the clear standout. One of my favorite tracks of the year.

I probably should have said big, immediate hooks... not what I'd call radio friendly...

There are def hooks there, like Seaward mentioned, but they kinda grow on you...

Its got a really cool, different guitar sound though... check it out!

My favorite album this year was Liquid Tension Experiment 3. This just sort of came as a bolt out of the blue after 20 years of hiatus. It's some of the best musicianship you'll ever hear.

However, a strong contender in my view is Layla Revisited by Tedeschi-Trucks. It's borderline sacrilege to re-do an album of that stature but if anybody could do it with the proper respect for the original, it's Derek Trucks. They managed to breathe new life into these old classics while maintaining the warmth and virtuosity of the songs. It didn't hurt much either that Trey Anastasio and Doyle Bramhall came along for the ride.

I don’t really keep up with mainstream hits, but yeah, not sure how Be Sweet isn’t one.

How do you feel about the male vocalist sounding like Yoni from Why? on this album?

I don’t think I have listened to enough (maybe any) Why? to make that connection.

Hope you have been doing well, Jay Are.

I have no problem with anybody’s choices and have enjoyed a lot of them but I can’t help but feel sad about how quality music has become so devalued in my lifetime. It’s just a shame how brilliant music languishes in the dark and absolute garbage is ubiquitous.

There are currently more than 8 million artists on Spotify who release almost 22 million tracks per year. Of those 8,000,000 artists, only 57,000 are responsible for 90% of the streams. If you don’t have the backing of a label, it’s almost impossible to break through today. And you know what we’re going to get from corporate labels.

Having said that, being mainstream or radio friendly doesn’t necessarily mean it’s garbage. I know nothing about Top 40 music today, but I listen to AltNation (Sirius) and enjoy it. It’s good music. Mostly. They play a lot of new artists too. That and Lithium is all I need.
