Nice list. This is the only one I’m not familiar with on it. I need to check it out. I saw it was number 2 on Stereogum’s hardcore albums of the year list today between Fiddlehead and Turnstile, which are both great.

Think Touche Amore or La Dispute

Coming back later this weekend to post my list. Actually haven't heard the Turnstile album yet, and that is definitely my genre.

I couldn't get into this one... I gave it a listen, but it was a little too "fusion" for my tastes...

Yup, I can definitely see that. That album reminded me a lot of Title Fight’s Hyperview, which layered in a lot of that dreamy shoegaze fuzz on top of hardcore punk. To me it begins to expand the boundaries a bit, and sort of becomes its own thing.

I checked this out and really liked it (thanks). Shopped for the vinyl and it seems to be sold out everywhere. Going for $120-$600 on eBay.

Thanks for the recs.
I listened to Afrique Victime over the summer & liked it.
WOD is OK but sometimes too mellow for me.

Checked out Illusory Walls & now I'm listening to "Trouble" every day for the last week. Nice to come across an alt band making guitar-oriented rock, and a good reminder there's more out there in the alt world than the (mostly) dreary poppy stuff you hear on Sirius.

Awesome, glad to hear. I like that whole album, but the closing stretch starting with Trouble and then through the next two tracks is definitely my favorite.

Same here. Love this album. I don’t even listen to that type of music anymore. My last two concerts were Robert Earl Keen and James Taylor/Jackson Browne. LOL

I’m not that out of it. I’ve seen both War on Drugs and Mike and the Moon Pies.
(I was into 90’s punk and happened to learn about this album from an old friend.)

For anyone just now discovering The World is a Beautiful Place:

Do yourself a favor and go back and listen to their album Harmlessness. The new one is good… but Harmlessness is like a masterpiece, imo.

I’d second the Harmlessness recommendation. I would say I personally prefer Illusory Walls though. But yeah, both are definitely worth checking out.

first track... De Facto Blues

I need to add shame - Drunk Tank Pink to my list. I’m generally fatigued by all the UK post punk stuff, which seems to be the only genre of music they seem interested in making… but goddamn this album is great!
